Gio Linh District Forest Rangers determined that the reticulated python was caught in a net a few days ago, with several foul-smelling wounds on its neck. The District Forest Rangers have taken the python in for care, and when it is healthy, it will be released back into the wild.
The reticulated python has the scientific name Python reticulatus , belonging to group IIB in the list of rare and endangered forest animals, prohibited from exploitation and use. This species lives in sparse forests, near rivers and streams, spending most of its time in trees. They are very good swimmers, mainly active at night.
