According to experts, the sharp increase in DXY in the currency basket has pulled up most commodity prices... Arabica coffee prices on the New York floor have made a technical adjustment to decrease slightly, while Robusta coffee prices on the London floor returned to an upward trend at the end of the week due to concerns about global supply shortages still weighing on the consumer market, despite Brazil about to enter the new crop harvest this year.

Brazil has sold an estimated 55.3 million bags of coffee so far, compared to 85.53 million bags from last year’s harvest, slightly below the five-year average, according to consultancy and analyst Safras & Mercados. The new harvest is also about to begin, which will increase sales. At the same time, the forecast of La Nina in the early second half of this year will make this winter dangerous, slowing sales for producer cooperatives, which will put pressure on prices as the new harvest begins with an estimated increase in this year’s crop.

The Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (Vicofa) forecasts that coffee output in the 2023/2024 crop year will decrease by 10% compared to the previous crop year, down to 1.6 million tons, the lowest level in the last four crop years.
