Chairing the event, Mr. Phan Anh Son, President of VUFO, Vice Chairman of the Working Committee on NGOs, shared and provided an overview of policies and guidelines, the socio-economic development situation of Vietnam, the current situation of NGOs' activities in Vietnam and Vietnam's priority orientations in the coming time.
From there, NGOs, businesses and foreign partners have more information to be able to build aid policies in line with Vietnam's development orientation.
Mr. Son emphasized: “2023 is a year with many difficulties and challenges for the global economy, and Vietnam is no exception.
The Party and State of Vietnam have had the right orientations, appropriate policies, flexible and effective actions to continue to maintain growth momentum, although it is lower than in 2022, to control inflation, maintain macroeconomic stability, strengthen social security, and continue the goals set by the 13th National Party Congress.
The VUFO President said that 2023 is also a successful year for Vietnam's foreign affairs, including important contributions from the work of NGOs.
As the standing body of the Working Committee on NGOs, VUFO has actively worked with ministries, branches, functional agencies and localities to create favorable conditions for organizations operating in Vietnam, contributing to the socio-economic development of localities in particular and the whole country in general.
According to Mr. Phan Anh Son, the above relatively positive results were partly achieved with valuable support from international partners, especially NGOs, who work day and night with Vietnamese partners, from the central to local levels, to realize the country's socio-economic development goals.
The VUFO President suggested that in 2024, NGOs should continue to actively and proactively share information, do a good job of reporting on activities, and work with competent authorities to improve administrative procedures to truly create a clear change in the work related to NGOs.
He hopes that development cooperation agencies, donors, and NGOs will continue to pay attention and devote resources to supporting Vietnam according to the priority directions in the National Program on Strengthening Cooperation and Mobilizing NGO Aid for the 2019-2025 period, as well as the actual priority needs of Vietnamese ministries, sectors, and localities.
On this occasion, on behalf of partners and beneficiaries across Vietnam, VUFO President Phan Anh Son expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the deep affection and valuable support that NGOs have given to the country and people of Vietnam. Of these, 35 organizations have made particularly positive contributions to Vietnam in 2023; 3 NGOs celebrating 30 years of operation in Vietnam in 2023 were honored.
The VUFO leader affirmed: “I highly appreciate your contributions to the socio-economic development of Vietnam. Every contribution from each of you, in your organization, whether in the form of material, experience, professional knowledge or human resources, contributes to changing the future and bringing a better life to many Vietnamese people, especially those in difficult circumstances across the country.
Besides, you are also ambassadors who help bring the image of the country, people, policies, traditions, and humanistic values of Vietnam to the world; as well as contribute to consolidating and fostering friendly relations between Vietnam and people of other countries, between Vietnam and countries around the world, enhancing friendship, understanding, trust, and mutual attachment between the Vietnamese people and progressive people in the world.
