Mr. Nguyen Van Thuan is the Chairman of the Vietnam-Armenia Friendship Association.

According to the report at the Congress, since its establishment in 2014, the Association has gathered more than 200 members who are cadres and former international students who have studied, lived and worked in Armenia.

Over the past 10 years, under the direct guidance of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO), the Central Committee of the Association has always grasped the importance of people-to-people diplomacy, actively organized many friendship and effective cooperation activities in fields such as delegation exchanges, diplomatic reception activities, friendship exchanges, bridging cooperation development... towards major holidays and important political events of the two countries, contributing significantly to people-to-people diplomacy and the friendship and cooperation between the people of the two countries.

At the Congress, delegates unanimously approved the list of 33 members of the Executive Committee. Mr. Nguyen Van Thuan, former member of the Party Central Committee, former Secretary of the City Party Committee, former Chairman of the Hai Phong City People's Council, Chairman of the Hai Phong City Association for Human Resources and Talent Development, Chairman of the Association for the first term, was elected to continue to hold the position of Chairman of the Association for the third term, 2024-2029.

In the 2024-2029 term, the Vietnam-Armenia Friendship Association sets out the general goal of innovating and improving the effectiveness of its operations. Building and consolidating the association's organization to become increasingly strong, creating a basis for promoting people-to-people exchange activities, contributing to strengthening and developing the friendship, solidarity and cooperation between the people of the two countries; seeking the support of Armenian friends for the cause of building, protecting and developing Vietnam's country.

In particular, in the new conditions of people's foreign affairs, friendship activities require innovation, practicality, efficiency, multi-dimensional accessibility and cooperation, and rich and attractive forms and contents of activities to attract diverse subjects and forces to participate, and enhance the ability to mobilize funding and socialize the Association's activities.

Armenian Ambassador to Vietnam Suren Baghdasaryan affirmed that the Association plays an important role in building bridges and foundations for the great friendship between Armenia and Vietnam. “We are also ready to create all conditions for Vietnamese students to come to Armenia to study and restore this tradition. Because your generation, our generation, always lives with these memories. But what is necessary is to enhance mutual understanding, respect, support and cooperation between the young generations of the two countries,” the Ambassador shared.

Speaking at the Congress, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations Phan Anh Son agreed with the working direction of the second term for the 2024-2029 term, believing that the Association will continue to achieve greater new achievements, contributing practically to promoting the relationship between the two countries.
