Over the past month, Ho Chi Minh City has been experiencing continuous heavy rain. The widespread rain has not only caused flooding on low-lying roads and low-lying areas in the East and South, but has also been a "nightmare" for millions of Ho Chi Minh City residents during rush hour.
Finishing work at 5:30 p.m., if office workers have to go through the main Xo Viet Nghe Tinh route to get home when it's raining heavily, the time cannot be counted in minutes.
On normal days, the scene of thousands of people following each other, jostling to cross each route of Xo Viet Nghe Tinh, Dinh Bo Linh, Ung Van Khiem, Nguyen Gia Tri, D5… happens regularly.

According to the latest report of the Department of Transport of Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Thanh District regularly records traffic jams at 3 locations: Xo Viet Nghe Tinh Street (from Bach Dang to Dai Liet Sy 5-way intersection); Hang Xanh intersection; Dinh Bo Linh intersection. These are also the locations assessed to have the most serious traffic jams in Ho Chi Minh City.
Of which, Xo Viet Nghe Tinh Street (from Bach Dang to Dai Liet Sy Intersection) was recorded as having 615 traffic jams in 9 months; Dinh Bo Linh intersection ranked second with 588 traffic jams and Hang Xanh intersection with 161 traffic jams.
Meanwhile, the number of traffic jams in the same period last year were 566, 706, and 150, respectively. Statistics show that traffic jams on Xo Viet Nghe Tinh Street are on the rise and cannot be controlled.
According to the reporter's records, Xo Viet Nghe Tinh Street, just past Bach Dang intersection, has turned into a one-way street, creating a bottleneck that causes frequent traffic congestion.
The road is narrow, but the route has to carry many different types of vehicles. Primitive vehicles and bulky cargo vehicles are also present on this road.
Therefore, although it is one of the main arteries of Ho Chi Minh City, this route is always congested, especially during the morning and afternoon rush hours.
The location of the Martyrs' Monument 5-way intersection is often congested on Xo Viet Nghe Tinh Street.
