A series of projects close to life that have been or are being completed before Tet At Ty are special "Tet gifts" for the people of Ho Chi Minh City.

On the morning of January 20, the Management Board of Urban Infrastructure Construction Investment Projects of Ho Chi Minh City held the inauguration ceremony of the left bank project of the Saigon River from Cau Ngang Canal to Thu Thiem urban area (Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City).

Relieve anxiety

This project with a total investment of over VND992 billion includes main items such as construction of 1,776 m of reinforced concrete embankment with sidewalks, trees, lighting system; 4 tidal sluices combined with pumping stations at Binh Thai canal, Ong Chua canal, Thao Dien canal and Ong Hoa canal.

Deployed to reduce the risk of coastal flooding due to high tides and adapt to climate change, the project not only supports drainage and flood reduction but also contributes to urban beautification and environmental protection. Thereby creating a premise for socio-economic development of Thu Duc City in particular and Ho Chi Minh City in general, improving the quality of life both materially and spiritually for the people in the area.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Infrastructure Construction Investment Project Management Board Nguyen Hoang Anh Dung expressed his thanks to many functional agencies, especially the sharing and consensus from people in the area.

According to Mr. Dung, from those valuable things, the project was completed with guaranteed quality and put into use according to the design.

On behalf of the people in the project, Ms. Chu Thi Trong (residing in Thu Duc City) expressed her joy and confidence that the project will achieve the highest efficiency.

"The project helps prevent flooding caused by high tides and heavy rains, improves drainage capacity for the area and contributes to beautifying the urban landscape along the left bank of the Saigon River" - Ms. Trong assessed and affirmed that this helps improve all aspects of people's lives.

Another project close to life, Hang Bang Canal, 1.7 km long through District 5 and District 6, was renovated and completed from Mai Xuan Thuong Street to Van Tuong Canal on January 17, 3 months ahead of schedule.

Thus, from a heavily polluted place, Hang Bang canal is now bringing a new look to the city as well as relieving the long-standing frustrations of people on both banks.

Finish line after finish line

To serve the travel needs of the people, today, January 21, Tan Ky Tan Quy Bridge (Binh Tan District) officially opened to traffic. As of January 20, the important project connecting Tan Ky Tan Quy Road with National Highway 1A is completing the final steps with tasks such as cleaning, blowing dust and preparing traffic flow.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Phuoc, a resident living near the bridge, said that the people were very happy. Mr. Phuoc hoped that the completion of the bridge would reduce traffic jams, reduce the burden of dust and smoke, and provide more ways for people to earn a living.

At Tang Long Bridge (Thu Duc City), although Tet is near, the construction site is still bustling with work to open the left branch as soon as possible. The project is expected to be completed before Tet, but due to the scarcity of materials and completion of some items, more time is needed.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Loc, a local resident, recalled that Tang Long Bridge had been delayed for many years, but since it was restarted, progress has been very fast. "Workers worked through holidays and Tet. Hopefully the entire bridge will be completed by April 30, making traffic more convenient," Mr. Loc said.

Luong Dinh Cua Street (Thu Duc City) is also a notable project. Phase 1, the section from Nguyen Hoang intersection to Luong Dinh Cua - Tran Nao roundabout, has been basically completed, giving the route a new look. Currently, only the section from Nguyen Hoang intersection to An Phu and from Tran Nao roundabout to Nguyen Co Thach is waiting for synchronous expansion to overcome the long-standing traffic congestion.

Many other traffic projects such as Duong Quang Ham Street, Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho intersection and the Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa connecting road are also rushing to finish before Tet.

Create new momentum

Mr. Luong Minh Phuc, Director of the Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (Traffic Board), informed that Ho Chi Minh City is rushing to complete 8 key traffic projects from now until before Tet At Ty 2025.

After the opening ceremony of Tan Ky Tan Quy bridge (Binh Tan district), the Traffic Department together with the Department of Transport, departments, branches, consulting units and contractors continued to put into operation 7 important projects.

Specifically, in Tan Binh district, Hoang Hoa Tham Street is being expanded; the road connecting Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa Street, phase 1, from Phan Thuc Duyen Street to Hoang Hoa Tham Street, and all 3 above-ground and underground locations connecting traffic with Tan Son Nhat Terminal T3 are being completed. In Thu Duc City, Luong Dinh Cua Street, phase 1, from Tran Nao to Nguyen Hoang, is being expanded. The above projects will be opened to traffic on January 23 and 26.

By January 27, 4 projects were simultaneously opened to traffic. Of which, Go Vap district has the expansion of Duong Quang Ham street phase 1, Thu Duc city has 1 plaintiff Tang Long bridge, district 7 has Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho intersection and Binh Tan district has Ba Hom bridge project.

These projects follow a series of previously completed works such as Ten Lua Road, Nam Ly Bridge, Rach Dia Bridge, Phuoc Long Bridge, National Highway 50 Parallel Road, Hang Bang Canal, Ba Dat Bridge, Giong Ong To 2 Bridge...

Up to now, the Traffic Department and the Ho Chi Minh City transport sector have basically completed 20 bidding packages and key projects with the goal of serving people before the Lunar New Year 2025. These projects not only solve traffic problems but also promote socio-economic development, creating new momentum for Ho Chi Minh City in the coming period.

Notably, the opening of Tan Ky Tan Quy bridge is considered to play an important role in reducing traffic congestion, creating a connecting axis from National Highway 1A to the center of Ho Chi Minh City.

This is the result of the process of converting the investment form from BOT to public investment, contributing to the construction of a modern transportation network, connecting the Southwest region with the city center and Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

People participation, sustainable project

During the inauguration ceremony of Hang Bang Canal, Chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Council Nguyen Thi Le emphasized that the implementation of all projects must be carried out in the spirit of "people discuss, people do, people inspect, people benefit".

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Le, this is an important principle that helps ensure the active participation of the community in contributing opinions, monitoring the progress and quality of the project, and at the same time protecting the rights of the people. Only when the people are truly satisfied with the final results will the project truly achieve sustainable results, bringing long-term benefits to the community.

"Please share"

According to the Traffic Department, at the end of the year, many traffic projects in Ho Chi Minh City continue to be under construction, leading to congestion and potential safety risks. Although relevant units have announced a halt to road digging during Tet, some key projects such as Ring Road 3 and An Phu intersection still maintain work to ensure progress.

Due to the nature of the work, the Traffic Department hopes that people will sympathize and share with the projects that must be constructed during Tet to complete the project on schedule.

The Traffic Committee continues to recommend that the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, relevant departments, local authorities and Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation continue to support the handover of land to ensure construction progress and complete many projects by 2025.
