The "dream" final
On the evening of November 8, the Indonesian futsal team defeated Thailand 5-1 in the second semi-final of the tournament to continue their journey to conquer the Southeast Asian futsal championship for the second time in history. The opponent of the archipelago team is the Vietnam futsal team, who defeated Australia 5-4.
Dinh Cong Vien (number 7) and his teammates played very bravely in the semi-final match against the Australian futsal team.
After the two semi-final matches ended, CNN Indonesia published an article titled "Indonesia - Vietnam: the ideal final". The newspaper analyzed: "This is an ideal final if you look at the performances of the two teams. Both the Indonesian and Vietnamese futsal teams played convincingly on the way to the final. The Indonesian futsal team finished the group stage with 9 absolute points, when they successively defeated Cambodia (9-0), Australia (3-1) and Myanmar (5-1). This impressive performance continued in the semi-finals. And the Thai futsal team, the king of Southeast Asia, also had to fall. The strength of the "War Elephants" in this tournament is no longer too impressive".
"The Vietnamese futsal team did the same. They finished the group stage with 12 absolute points, beating Thailand 3-2 to win Group A. In the semi-final match against Australia, the Vietnamese futsal team showed extraordinary resilience. They were down 0-2 in the first half but still fought to win 5-4 in a match with 2 extra periods," CNN Indonesia also praised coach Diego Giustozzi and his team.
What did the "former player" of the Vietnam futsal team say?
In the post-match press conference, Indonesian futsal team captain Hector Souto did not say much about his opponent Vietnam in the final match. According to Bola , the Spanish strategist only affirmed his determination to win the championship and was ready to face the remaining challenges of the tournament.
The Indonesian futsal team is also thriving in this tournament.
In addition, coach Souto analyzed further: "My players tried very hard. Everyone was under pressure because the Thai futsal team was strong. I admit that Thailand played better in the first half, but they changed their playing style. And I am very happy that Indonesian fans came to the stadium to cheer us on. Everyone wanted to face Thailand because this is a very strong opponent, I repeat this once again. The players also 'dodged' well. I don't want anyone to get injured."
He is optimistic about the future of futsal in the archipelago: "Looking ahead about 3 years, I think the Indonesian futsal team will develop even more than this. I see the Indonesian Football Federation is making efforts to help the national championship become stronger, and players will have more playing time."
Mr. Souto is not a stranger to Vietnamese futsal. This coach used to work at Thai Son Nam Club, as assistant coach of the Vietnamese national team. In 2017, he led the Vietnamese U.20 futsal team to the U.20 Asian Cup. This strategist will meet Chau Doan Phat, Tran Thai Huy... and the Vietnamese futsal team again in the final match of the 2024 Southeast Asian Futsal Championship, taking place at 6:00 p.m. on November 10.
