(Dan Tri) - Participating in the Spring Flower Street of At Ty, Dong Tam Snake Farm displays 7 species of snakes with nearly 30 individuals, including highly venomous snakes such as king cobras, giant snakes, red-tailed vipers...
Participating in this year's mascot "race", Tien Giang province brought live snakes and snake specimens to display at the At Ty Spring Flower Street (at Hung Vuong Square, Dao Thanh Commune, My Tho City), impressing many tourists.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hong Phuc, Political Commissar, Party Secretary of the Center for Cultivation, Research and Processing of Medicinal Herbs, Department of Logistics and Technology of Military Region 9, said that participating in this year's flower street, the unit displayed 7 types of snakes with nearly 30 individuals, including some types of snakes such as: King cobra, cobra, banded krait, red-tailed green pit viper...
Among them, the king cobra and the cobra are extremely poisonous and endangered species listed in the Vietnam Red Book. In addition, the unit also displays some non-poisonous snakes for visitors to see in person.
In addition, the unit displaying 13 snake specimens extracted from the Snake Museum under Dong Tam Snake Farm is recognized by the Vietnam Record Book Center as the first Snake Museum preserving the most snake species in Vietnam.
Up to this point, Tien Giang is the first province to display real snakes at the Spring Flower Street of At Ty.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Hung (living in My Tho city) shared: "Extremely poisonous snakes like king cobras, garter snakes... I have only seen them on TV and social networks before, but now I can see them with my own eyes and see them through glass cages, I feel both scared and excited."
It is known that during the exhibition time at the flower street (at 7:30 p.m., from the 1st to the 5th day of the Lunar New Year), Dong Tam Snake Farm will perform snakes and extract snake venom. This is not only a unique highlight of the At Ty Spring Flower Street, but also has a profound meaning in terms of nature conservation and medicinal plant development.
