A park the size of just four sheets of paper in Nagaizumi town, Shizuoka prefecture in Japan has just been recognized by Guinness World Records as the world's smallest park.
According to Guinness , this park is just over an hour's drive from Tokyo. After a short walk around the residential area from Nagaizumi City Hall, visitors will find the world's smallest park on an empty lot.
The park is 0.24 square meters wide, equivalent to 4 sheets of paper; it has an entrance, a small bench, and some grass.

According to Shuji Koyama, head of the construction management team of Nagaizumi town, the park was built in 1988 to make the most of the empty space on the road. Today, the park is used by locals as a place to relax as well as tourists to take pictures.
CNN describes that from afar, people can easily mistake this park for a bonsai tree - an example of the Japanese art of caring for miniature bonsai trees.
Previously, the world's smallest park was Mill Ends in Portland, Oregon, USA - which inspired the world's smallest park in Japan that has just been recognized.
