Inevitable trend
On July 26, 2022, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 896 approving the National Strategy on Climate Change for the period up to 2050 to proactively and effectively adapt, reduce vulnerability, loss and damage caused by climate change; reduce greenhouse gas emissions towards the goal of net zero emissions by 2050.
Vietnam wants to make a positive and responsible contribution to the international community in protecting the Earth's climate system; taking advantage of opportunities from climate change response to shift the growth model, enhancing the resilience and competitiveness of the economy.
According to Decision 896, total carbon emissions in the main emission sectors of energy, agriculture, waste, and industrial production processes will be only about 185 million tons of CO2, balanced with the amount of carbon absorption achieved from the forestry and land use sectors.
From the requirements of sustainable development, Quang Nam has for many years said no to investors who do not take environmental protection seriously, produce with old, outdated technology; and rolled out the red carpet for businesses to prioritize production with new, modern technology, increase labor productivity while improving the environment, adapting to climate change, especially choosing a circular economy.
According to Mr. Le Vu Thuong - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, in the industrial sector alone, the province plans to put production in industrial zones and clusters. Investment projects in industries with potential risks of causing environmental pollution and labor-intensive processing are restricted.
Quang Nam continues to improve the quality of environmental impact assessment reports, ensuring that 100% of new industrial investment projects are arranged in accordance with planning and have waste treatment systems that meet standards.

The motto of production, trade, environmental protection, and sustainable development cannot be separated from each other, which has helped our products compete better in the market,” said Mr. Van.
In Ha Lam - Cho Duoc Industrial Cluster (Thang Binh), Phu Toan Quang Nam Production & Trading Co., Ltd. focuses on green production. The company's production activities of medical equipment, masks, alcohol, salt, antiseptics, etc. apply closed technology, thoroughly treat waste and wastewater, use solar energy, and limit emissions. The company owns a modern, highly automated production line that meets ISO standards.
Mr. Ho Khanh Toan - Director of Phu Toan Quang Nam Production & Trading Company Limited, said that green production conversion creates growth momentum for businesses, attracts new customers, improves competitiveness..., especially accessing demanding markets.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thong - Director of the Center for Land Fund Development, Industry and Services of Thang Binh said that there are many industrial clusters in the area, so the center advises the District People's Committee to attract many businesses to invest in industrial production.
The requirement is that businesses have a correct awareness of the benefits and responsibilities of green production. Products of businesses that meet green and sustainable standards will be elevated in position, better recognized and sold at higher prices.
The good news is that from planning and investment orientation in production clusters with modern technology and green industry, up to now, the business community in the area has formed a green industrial ecosystem, circular economy, clean production, environmental protection, climate change adaptation, promoting sustainable industrial development.
