The Vietnamese Sports Delegation will be led by Director of the Department of Sports and Physical Training Dang Ha Viet, attending the Congress from September 16 to October 9. Head of the delegation Dang Ha Viet said that the number of delegation members attending the Congress has been carefully calculated based on the regulations of the Congress organizing committee and according to each person's job position.
In addition to Head of Delegation Dang Ha Viet, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation also has two Deputy Heads of Delegation, Head of High Performance Sports Department 1 Hoang Quoc Vinh and Head of High Performance Sports Department 2 Ngo Ich Quan. The Delegation also has 12 doctors and nurses responsible for taking care of the health, recovery, and injury treatment of the athletes.
The Vietnamese Sports Delegation attended the Congress with a carefully calculated composition based on the regulations of the Congress organizing committee.
In addition to the members who go with state funding, there are also many members of the Vietnam Sports Delegation who go with socialized funding, such as the Vietnam Entertainment E-Sports Association, which covers all expenses for the members of the E-Sports team and the Dance-Sport Breaking team. Head of the delegation Dang Ha Viet will lead the "big army" of the Vietnam Sports Delegation to depart on September 20.
Vietnamese sports will compete in 31 sports. According to experts, this will be a difficult Games for Vietnamese sports because this is the transitional period of many strong sports and there are many objective reasons why the performance of athletes is no longer as good as before.
For example, in the group of events that produced 5 gold medals at the most recent Games, due to injury, Athletics Bui Thi Thu Thao could not maintain her form as at the 18th Asian Games, while the event that helped the girls of the rowing team win 1 gold medal at the 18th Asian Games was also not included in the competition program.
In this edition, the sport that brought home 2 gold medals, Pencak Silat, was not included in the competition program, causing Vietnamese sports to lose the opportunity to compete for at least 2 gold medals. Some strong sports such as Shooting are also in the transition phase, the famous athletes are getting older, some have switched to coaching, some are still competing but are no longer at the peak of their performance while the young generation is too inexperienced in large-scale competitions such as the Asian Games. Therefore, if the target of 5 gold medals like in the previous Games is set, it will be very difficult for Vietnamese sports in this Games that is predicted to be very fierce.
According to the official competition program, the Games will include 40 sports with 61 sub-sports and 481 events. According to the preliminary registration of the delegations, there will be 12,527 athletes from 45 Asian countries and territories competing at the Games. Currently, 56 competition venues at the Games have ensured sufficient conditions to organize the sports and events. There will be 4,575 technical staff from China and abroad selected and ready to work for the Games.
