The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs is seeking opinions from ministries and sectors on a plan to have a 9-day Tet holiday. Thus, instead of proposing a number of holiday options, this time the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs is only proposing one option.

Proposal for 9-day Lunar New Year holiday

On September 17, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs said that it has completed the draft plan for the Lunar New Year holiday in 2025 and is seeking comments from ministries and branches.

Accordingly, instead of proposing several options for Tet holidays, this time the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs only proposed one option. According to the proposal, for the 2025 Lunar New Year, officials, civil servants and public employees can have 9 consecutive days off.

Specifically, cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers are given 5 days off according to regulations, including 2 days off before Tet and 3 days off after Tet.

Because this year's Tet holiday falls on all days of the week, workers will have 4 more days off before and after the 5 days of Tet holiday.

Specifically, civil servants and public employees will have Lunar New Year holidays in 2025 from Saturday, January 25, 2025 to Sunday, February 2, 2025 (ie December 26, year of Giap Thin, to January 5, year of At Ty).

With this plan, during the Lunar New Year holiday, civil servants and public employees will have 9 days off (including 5 days off for Tet and 4 days off every week).

For Lunar New Year in 2022 and 2023, workers will have 7 days off. Thus, if the above plan is approved, workers will have a Lunar New Year holiday 2 days longer than previous years.
