The first 35 questions of the test were relatively easy, taking Chinh about 15-20 minutes to complete. The male student was sure to get 7 points in this part.

With the next 15 questions, the level of difficulty gradually increased, of which 5 questions were at a moderate level. The remaining 10 questions, the male student mainly "circled around" because they were relatively difficult, mainly focusing on complex numbers, maximum and minimum values, and characteristic functions. With this question, the male student expected to get about 8 points.

Hieu Phuong (a student at Khuong Dinh High School) commented that this year's Math test was a bit difficult. Compared to last year, this year's Math test was much more difficult and had a high level of differentiation. The questions in the last 10 questions were especially difficult. Phuong also "guessed" these 10 questions. She expected that the maximum score she could get on the test would be 8.

Similarly, Nguyen Trong Nhan, a Chemistry major at the High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences, also shook his head because "the exam was much more difficult than previous years". After the exam, Nhan called his family to inform them of the situation "the exam was difficult, I couldn't do it all".

The 2024 high school graduation exam will take place from June 26 to 29 with more than one million candidates participating. The total number of candidates registered for the high school graduation exam this year is more than 1,071,000, an increase of more than 45,000 candidates compared to last year. Of which, the number of independent candidates is 46,978, accounting for 4.38%. The total number of candidates registered for exemption from the Foreign Language exam is 66,927, accounting for 6.25%; the most are candidates from Hanoi with 21,554 candidates; Ho Chi Minh City has 13,076 candidates.

This year, only 37% of candidates chose the Natural Science exam, while the remaining 63% chose the Social Science exam. Compared to last year, the number of candidates choosing the Social Science exam increased and was the highest since 2017.

The 2024 high school graduation exam will be organized basically stable as in the 2020-2023 period. The Ministry of Education and Training has given general instructions, and the provinces/cities directly under the central government will preside over all exam organization work in their localities. The exam councils will organize the exam from June 26-29; mark the exam from June 29; announce the exam results at 8:00 a.m. on July 17, and consider recognizing high school graduation on July 19.
