Promoting information on the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction

Opening the Conference, Mr. Ho Hong Hai, Deputy Director of the Department of Legal Affairs (Ministry of Information and Communications) said: On January 18, 2022, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 90/QD-TTg approving the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction for the period 2021 - 2025 with the goal of reducing multidimensional poverty, inclusively, sustainably, limiting poverty relapse and poverty generation; supporting the poor and poor households to overcome the minimum living standard, access basic social services according to the national multidimensional poverty standards, improve the quality of life; support poor districts, especially disadvantaged communes in coastal and island areas to escape poverty and extreme poverty.

On April 12, 2023, the Ministry of Information and Communications issued Decision No. 606/QD-BTTTT on promulgating the Training Plan to improve capacity to implement the Information Poverty Reduction Program under the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction for the period 2021-2025, 2023. The Ministry of Information and Communications coordinated with the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs and the Ethnic Committee to organize this Conference.

According to Mr. Ho Hong Hai, the Information Poverty Reduction Program aims to improve communication capacity and writing skills for reporters and editors of central and local press agencies in disseminating political tasks and essential information for society. In particular, the Program will focus on providing information on mountainous areas, remote areas, border areas, islands, information for people living in communes with high poverty rates, ethnic minority areas...

"The training conference will also provide reporters with information support and access policies for ethnic minorities and mountainous areas in the 2021-2025 period; policies and laws of the Party and State of Vietnam on ethnic minorities and mountainous areas; at the same time, strengthen coordination and information sharing between state management agencies and press agencies..." - Mr. Ho Hong Hai said.

Mr. Dinh Xuan Thang, Deputy Director of the Propaganda Department (Ethnic Committee) presented a topic with many updated and useful contents.

At the Conference, Mr. Dinh Xuan Thang, Deputy Director of the Propaganda Department (Committee on Ethnic Minorities) also presented the topic "Some policies to support access to information for ethnic minorities and mountainous areas in the period of 2021 - 2025" and presented the topic "Policies and laws of the Party and State of Vietnam on ethnic minorities and mountainous areas", with many updated and useful contents. Accordingly, information is one of the 6 basic social services in the multidimensional poverty standard.
