DNVN - Continuing to respond to the Promotion Month program focused in Ho Chi Minh City and the promotion program focused in Hanoi, the National Payment Corporation of Vietnam (NAPAS) cooperated with Mastercard to launch a nationwide promotion program to promote contactless payments.

Contactless card payments are increasingly asserting their important role in the digital economy, providing consumers with outstanding convenience, high security and fast transaction speed.

Currently, contactless chip card technology has been widely applied in the world, especially in developed countries. According to data from NAPAS, by the end of the first quarter of 2024, the total number of domestic chip cards (NAPAS cards issued by Vietnamese banks/financial companies) on the market today reached more than 58 million cards.

The sales of contactless payment transactions of banks are showing a positive growth trend, showing that consumers are interested in and choosing this payment method. One of the important factors comes from the attractive incentive programs specifically for contactless payment methods that NAPAS has coordinated with banks and card organizations to implement in recent times.

Promotion program implemented at KOI The.

Following that result, this year's program was implemented by NAPAS in coordination with Mastercard to expand the scale and implementation time with a total program budget of up to 15 billion VND with the participation of nearly 40 major partners in fields such as food services, retail technology, cosmetics, entertainment, pharmaceuticals, education... through a system of more than 6,000 points of sale of brands in the Payoo payment acceptance network.

During the specific application period for each promotion program, customers will receive a discount in amount or percentage of the order value when shopping and paying with NAPAS and Mastercard contactless technology cards issued by banks/financial companies. Customers will enjoy the promotions when shopping, especially focusing on the two peak seasons: summer and the year-end holiday season.

Sharing about the significance of the program, Mr. Nguyen Quang Minh, General Director of NAPAS said: With easy and convenient payment features along with safe and highly secure chip card technology, it can be seen that domestic cards have become a familiar payment method for many people.

Over the years, NAPAS has also cooperated with many large and reputable partners to implement incentive programs to promote the benefits of using card payments to people and stimulate cashless payment habits. Through cooperation with Mastercard to implement this year's major promotional campaign, NAPAS hopes to not only stimulate shopping, promote domestic production and business but also bring good values through community activities, especially spreading the benefits of cashless payments and promoting changes in spending habits using contactless payment cards.

Mastercard representative, Ms. Winnie Wong, Country Manager of Mastercard in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia also shared: “Within this cooperation framework, Mastercard will continue to leverage advanced technology and global expertise to bring suitable solutions, meeting the needs of partners, businesses, organizations and people in Vietnam. Through cooperation with like-minded partners, Mastercard is building a comprehensive payment ecosystem, enabling everyone to participate in the digital economy, thereby promoting the cashless payment program in Vietnam".

To accelerate Vietnam’s digital transformation, consumers are increasingly demanding seamless and convenient payment methods. Mastercard is addressing this need by fostering strong public-private partnerships. The partnership has achieved certain successes, encouraging consumers and businesses to implement cashless payments, especially contactless payments for everyday transactions. This is an important step forward, creating momentum for the widespread adoption of digital payments and financial inclusion across Vietnam.
