The program was organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union and the Ho Chi Minh City Young Pioneers Council on May 26. Tao Dan Park (District 1) was filled with the familiar red and white colors of the Young Pioneers' uniforms and the green color of the soldiers' shirts yesterday as children reenacted the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers participating in the Dien Bien Phu campaign 70 years ago.

Every child needs to strive to study, continue to practice, be worthy of being Uncle Ho's good child, strive to become an advanced youth, a good citizen of Uncle Ho's city.

Proud to be a Dien Bien soldier

Student Nguyen Kha Vy (Do Van Day Secondary School) said she woke up at 5am to prepare and attend the military festival. Despite waking up early and traveling far, she always had a bright smile.

Wearing Uncle Ho's army uniform and pith helmet for the first time, Vy boasted: "The outfit is a bit hot, but I feel very honored to be a little soldier of Dien Bien for once."

Tran Nhat Nam (Doan Thi Diem Primary School) said he was so excited to play the role of a soldier that he couldn't sleep all night.

In his military uniform, Nam kept asking his teachers why he had to pin tree branches on his helmet and backpack. Listening to his teacher, Nam said: "I hate war, I want to live in peace and happiness like this forever."

The parade of the regiments (competition clusters) reenacting the images of the forces in the Dien Bien Phu campaign attracted the attention and following of many people present at the park.

We can mention the flag parade, the city-wide campaign command, the Northwest Division (competition group 3) reenacting the engineering and logistics - transportation forces, the Victory Division (competition group 2) reenacting the frontline militia - medical forces.

Meanwhile, the public service units under the City Youth Union, including the City Children's House, Tuoi Tre Newspaper, the Center for Youth Science and Technology Development, and Sao Bac Dau Group, played the role of war reporters and artists. All of them created a fiery atmosphere for the campaign 70 years ago.

Deputy Secretary of the City Youth Union - President of the Ho Chi Minh City Young Pioneer Council Trinh Thi Hien Tran affirmed that over the past 83 years, the Young Pioneer organization has guided children in their training. With the guidance of the Party Committee and the City government, generations of young pioneers in the city have promoted the spirit of solidarity, been active in all movements, well implemented Uncle Ho's 5 teachings, and competed with the spirit of "young people doing small things, according to their strength".

Towards the 70th anniversary of the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory, the children of Uncle Ho City had seven weeks of peak competition with activities from city to grassroots levels, attracting about 5 million participants with the spirit of "Fire up Dien Bien - Children are ready".

"The Young Pioneer Organization has been, is and always will be the main factor, an indispensable environment for children to practice, strive and mature" - Ms. Hien Tran said.

Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Manh Cuong said that young pioneers, teenagers, and children are the future of the country and suggested that organizations and unions need to express their feelings through the most practical and effective solutions of care and concern.

With the motto "Giving the best to children", the head of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee requested that Party committees and authorities at all levels continue to pay attention and focus on protecting, caring for, and educating children.

Mr. Cuong also noted that the City Youth Union and the City Council of Young Pioneers should review and improve the quality of Young Pioneers' activities, monitor the implementation of the Law on Children as well as regulations on child protection, care and education. At the same time, proactively propose policies to support the comprehensive development of children in the city.

"Let's create all conditions for the Youth Union and the Young Pioneers to operate effectively, so that the Young Pioneers can effectively carry out the movement of City Children following Uncle Ho's 5 teachings" - Mr. Cuong said.

Ho Chi Minh City students and team members donate 461 million VND to friends

City team members and students have contributed more than 461 million VND in "Gifts for friends" to send to disadvantaged team members and students in Dien Bien and Son La provinces in the upcoming "I love Vietnam" 2024 journey.

On this occasion, Ho Chi Minh City launched the "For the Juniors" software project with an information management system, monitoring the support and learning results of students affected by the COVID-19 epidemic and students receiving scholarships from the Youth Union at all levels.

At the military festival, Ho Chi Minh City honored three students who received the 2024 Kim Dong Award: Dang Tran Huyen Thu (Hoa Lu Secondary School, Thu Duc City), Tran Minh Nhu (Colette Secondary School, District 3) and Phan Le Gia Han (Van Don Secondary School, District 4). At the same time, 74 outstanding team leaders in the city were honored.
