Evaluation of the planning for preservation, renovation, restoration and promotion of the value of the special national relic Son La Prison

On August 11, comrade Le Hong Minh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired a meeting to evaluate the results of implementing the Prime Minister's Decision on approving the planning for preserving, renovating, restoring and promoting the value of the Son La Prison National Special Relic.

Pursuant to Decision No. 687/QD-TTg dated June 5, 2019 of the Prime Minister on approving the planning for preservation, restoration, rehabilitation and promotion of the value of the Son La Prison National Special Relic, the Department of Construction has established a planning project including: Son La Prison Relic Site, Son La Prison Martyrs' Cemetery and 2 independent relic sites; planning area of 32.3 hectares. Divided into 4 project groups, including: Compensation, site clearance, boundary markers to protect relics; restoration and embellishment of relics and adjacent landscapes; renovation, upgrading and conversion of the use of old agency headquarters in the relic area, research, collection of artifacts, archaeological surveys; investment in construction of technical infrastructure systems to serve the protection and promotion of relic values associated with tourism development. Determine investment phases and implementation timelines for component project groups.

Up to now, we have completed the setting up of planning boundaries and researched, reviewed, and proposed a project to compensate and support the relocation of households on Khau Ca hill; implemented a number of component projects on restoration, conservation, and embellishment of relics and landscapes in adjacent areas; organized the exploitation and effective promotion of tourism products and promoted the value of the relic site; managed land and construction order in the relic area.

Concluding the meeting, comrade Le Hong Minh requested relevant departments and branches to continue advising the Provincial People's Committee to adjust the planning to ensure reasonableness and promote the value of the relic; develop a plan to implement the project to preserve, renovate and restore according to archaeological results and promote the value of the Son La Prison National Special Historical Relic; implement the digital transformation project in relic management; perform well the work of receiving and responding to feedback and recommendations from relatives of political prisoners at Son La Prison; continue to survey, research, collect documents and artifacts about political prisoners; strengthen the management of planning boundaries, land management, and construction order in the relic area; have a plan to arrange assets within the relic area, and arrange reasonable resettlement for households that must be relocated from the relic planning area...
