This is the information given at the press conference on the socio-economic situation in 2023 and key tasks in 2024 of Quang Nam province.
According to Mr. Le Tri Thanh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province, 2023 is a year full of difficulties and challenges for the province. 2024 is a very important year for implementing the tasks and targets set by the Quang Nam Provincial Party Congress.
The province has identified four key tasks, including: effectively implementing the Provincial Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050 after approval; continuing to consolidate and improve the apparatus, promote administrative procedures, and minimize inconvenience to businesses and people; ensuring public investment progress and resolving delays in 2022-2023; focusing on removing obstacles to real estate, tourism, and mineral projects, etc.
Mr. Thanh shared that the Government has just agreed to let Quang Nam host the year of “National Biodiversity Restoration 2024”. This greatly implements the province’s spirit of concretizing sustainable development, towards green growth.
Quang Nam is also the first locality in the country to register to implement biodiversity restoration, responding to the United Nations' "Decade for Natural Ecosystem Restoration".
This activity aims to contribute to raising awareness of all levels, sectors and people about the importance of biodiversity conservation with the goal of developing Quang Nam into one of the pioneering provinces in developing a green growth economy, a circular economy and a harmonious balance between environment and development.
The event will introduce and promote the values of biodiversity resources, the abundance of rare, endemic and typical flora and fauna of the province; as well as strongly promote the connection and sharing of responsibility in biodiversity conservation and ecological restoration.
“This is the key development focus of Quang Nam in the coming time. We will have events and activities organized, from national and international activities to specific and practical activities of residential communities, each family and citizen participating” - Mr. Le Tri Thanh said.
Quang Nam GRDP decreased by more than 8%
In 2023, the province's GRDP growth rate is estimated to decrease by 8.25%; the reason is that the province's industry is seriously affected by the complicated fluctuations in the world situation, slow economic recovery, declining consumer demand, and difficulties in the consumer market, especially automobiles. The average GRDP per capita in 2023 is about 74 million VND. The total number of visitors and guests in 2023 is more than 7.5 million, an increase of 1.6 times; of which, international visitors are nearly 3.9 million, an increase of 5.6 times. Tourism revenue is estimated at 7,950 billion VND, an increase of 2 times. Social income from tourism is about 18,683 billion VND. Agriculture, forestry and fishery continue to develop stably with a growth rate of more than 3.5%. Total state budget revenue in 2023 is expected to be 23,951 billion VND, reaching 89.8% of the estimate; Of which, domestic revenue was 20,880 billion VND, reaching 100% of the estimate; import-export revenue was 3,071 billion VND, reaching 53% of the estimate.
