Providing basic information on the preparations for the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for the 2024-2029 term, Mr. Vu Van Tien, Head of the Propaganda Department of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, said that the Congress will be held for 3 days from October 16 to 18, 2024 in Hanoi. The number of delegates expected to attend the Congress is nearly 1,400 people. Of which, there are 1,052 official delegates. The youngest delegate was born in 2004 (Ms. Thi Ha, a representative of the S'Tieng ethnic group, Phu Nghia commune, Bu Gia Map district, Binh Phuoc province); The oldest delegate was born in 1929 (Major General Vo So, Chairman of the Truong Son - Ho Chi Minh Trail Tradition Association of Vietnam).
Regarding the main content of the Political Report at the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for the 2024-2029 term, Mr. Vu Van Tien said that the theme of the Congress is "Solidarity - Democracy - Innovation - Creativity - Development". The title of the Political Report is "Enhancing the core political role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, promoting democracy, tradition, and the strength of great national unity to contribute to building an increasingly prosperous and civilized country, so that our people can have a prosperous and happy life".
6 Action Program of the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, term 2024 - 2029 includes: Strengthening propaganda, mobilization, gathering people of all walks of life, strengthening social consensus, promoting the strength of the great national unity bloc; Improving the quality and effectiveness of social supervision and criticism, implementing democracy, participating in Party and State building; Encouraging people of all walks of life to compete, be creative, effectively carry out campaigns and emulation movements; Promoting the role of mastery, self-management spirit of the people, building united, prosperous and happy residential areas; Improving the effectiveness of people's foreign affairs and work with overseas Vietnamese; Continuing to innovate the organizational structure, content and methods of operation; improving the capacity of the Front's staff at all levels.
Regarding the personnel plan of the 10th term Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, the expected number of members of the 10th term Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee is 405 (an increase of 20 compared to the 9th term). Of which, 249 will be re-elected (61.5%), while 156 will be newly elected (38.5%). The expected number of members of the Presidium of the 10th term Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee is 72 (an increase of 10 compared to the 9th term). Of which, 49 will be re-elected (68.1%), while 23 will be newly elected (31.9%).
At the press conference, representatives of news agencies and the press participated in asking questions and discussing issues that need attention and clarification, serving the propaganda work of the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, term 2024-2029.
Journalist Bui Hoang Yen - Dai Doan Ket Newspaper asked: What is the significance of the theme of this Congress, "Solidarity - Democracy - Innovation - Creativity - Development", especially when the 10th Congress takes place at a historic moment in the cause of national renewal and development? In recent articles such as "Determination to build a strong Party, a prosperous, democratic, fair and civilized Vietnam" and "Continuing to strongly innovate the Party's leadership and governance methods, an urgent requirement of the new revolutionary stage", General Secretary and President To Lam mentioned an "era of rising up of the Vietnamese nation". So what determination will the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front set to continue affirming its important role and position in the cause of building the great national unity bloc, creating social consensus to build a rich and powerful country, towards a new era - the era of rising up of the Vietnamese nation?
Journalist Dao Phuong Tra - Voice of Vietnam (VOV) asked: During the opening ceremony, closing ceremony and plenary hall, only a few reporters were allowed to work. Could the Organizing Committee clarify the criteria for reporters to work in this area? At the opening ceremony, there was a report on the work of the Front, so after the opening ceremony, can television reporters access and use the images in this report? Journalist Phuong Tra also suggested that the Organizing Committee provide reporters with information about special delegates of the Congress to further exploit their stories.
Journalist Tran Dai Thanh - Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper asked: Previously, when discussing the implementation of Regulation No. 124-QD/TW dated February 2, 2018 of the Secretariat on the supervision of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations and people on the cultivation and training of ethics and lifestyle of leaders, key officials and cadres and party members; this also raised the issue that coincides with the direction of this Congress, which is to improve the capacity and scope of supervision. The regulation is correct, accurate and close, but how to supervise leaders such as Politburo members, Secretariat members, Party Central Committee members, given the recent situation where many cadres have been disciplined. How will this Congress discuss so that in the next term, with the participation of the Front in improving supervision and social criticism, the above situation will be reduced or no cadres will be disciplined anymore?
Answering the question of Dai Doan Ket Newspaper, Vice Chairman Nguyen Huu Dung said that the tradition of solidarity of our nation throughout history has always been put first. Summarizing 15 years of implementing Resolution 23-NQ/TW, issuing Resolution No. 43-NQ/TW dated November 24, 2023 on continuing to promote the tradition and strength of great national solidarity, building our country to be increasingly prosperous and happy, our Party continues to attach importance to, consolidate and build the great national solidarity bloc. Regarding democracy, the Secretariat issued Directive No. 18-CT/TW on promoting the role, improving the quality and effectiveness of the supervision and social criticism work of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations, with the content "People know, people discuss, people do, people inspect, people supervise, people benefit". Regarding the responsibilities of the Front, promoting democracy in this term is focused on and specific goals are set, implemented at the grassroots level in residential areas, and the self-management model in the content of Program 6 has been mentioned.
Regarding innovation, the 9th term of the Vietnam Fatherland Front has paid great attention to selecting key and central contents and tasks and ensuring compliance with the provisions of the Law on the Vietnam Fatherland Front. The 10th Congress continues to promote the results achieved by the 9th Congress, in which the most prominent is the innovation that is focused, central, practical, effective, and strongly oriented towards the grassroots.
In response to a question from the Voice of Vietnam, Mr. Vu Van Tien, Head of the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, said that reporters who are granted cards will be able to work basically in all areas where the Congress is taking place. The Organizing Committee will ensure that press agencies can work. During the program, as soon as the reportage begins to be shown in the Great Hall, all content will be provided at the Press Center so that reporters have materials to produce news and articles for the Congress. The Organizing Committee will also respond to requests to learn about information about typical delegates attending the Congress to exploit sideline stories, helping to spread the meaning of the Congress to the masses.
Regarding the question of Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, Head of the Organization and Personnel Department of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, said that according to the Party's regulations and relevant legal documents, the Vietnam Fatherland Front plays a very important role in participating in building a clean and strong Party. The Vietnam Fatherland Front's primary function is to gather, unite, and build a great national unity bloc, in which the work of preventing and combating corruption and negativity requires the strength of solidarity, perseverance, and great determination of the entire society. "In the coming term, we firmly believe that the supervision and social criticism work of the Vietnam Fatherland Front will contribute, together with the Party and the entire political system, to repel corruption and negativity," said Mr. Thanh.
Acknowledging the questions and suggestions of representatives of news agencies and newspapers, Vice Chairman Nguyen Huu Dung thanked the leaders, reporters and editors of news agencies and newspapers for their attention, participation and active discussion at the press conference; at the same time, he hoped that news agencies and newspapers would widely promote the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, term 2024-2029, on mass media, spreading the meaning of the Congress to all walks of life.
