At Thuy Trung Tien Temple (Truc Bach Lake, Hanoi) there are hundreds of herons, storks, and herons... flying around and making nests. They have been here for nearly 10 years.
After the Lunar New Year, the number of birds, storks, herons, and egrets at Thuy Trung Tien Temple increased significantly. This place was once known as "stork island" because many species came to nest.
Visitors arriving at the temple gate can hear hundreds of birds, storks, herons, and egrets chirping and hopping from branch to branch. In the temple grounds, there are many ancient trees such as banyan and fig trees, which are ideal shelters.
Many foreign tourists coming to the temple were surprised to witness this scene, some took out their phones to record the image.
"Birds of a feather flock together," a tourist from Dong Thap said loudly as he arrived at the temple gate. "We are from Dong Thap, where birds and storks abound, but we are surprised to find such a place in the middle of the capital," he said.
The guard at Thuy Trung Tien Temple once told Dan Viet reporter that this area has up to 300 large and small birds living. "Recently, the number has increased, many birds from other areas have also come here to nest," this person added on February 20.
Recently, Hanoi has had thick fog.
The images of birds, storks, herons, egrets... appearing and disappearing under the mist looking for food make the scene here truly beautiful.
Some hover near the water looking for food, others fly higher, looking for dry branches and leaves to bring back to make nests.
On the branches of banyan and fig trees... many nests are interwoven, becoming habitats for herons, storks, and herons...
This proves that this place has fresh air and many other good conditions for them to live.
Every day, many tourists come to visit and admire the temple, so these birds are more tame, they freely preen their feathers on branches just tens of meters above the ground.
In the middle of a crowded and noisy city, seeing flocks of gentle wild birds sometimes perching, sometimes fluttering in the air is a rare sight in Hanoi. Many people who have lived here for a long time said that in the past, in West Lake, you could see species such as cuckoos and ibises on the West Lake side. From Thanh Nien Street, Truc Bach Lake has storks, herons, and herons flying out to find food every morning and returning in the late afternoon...
