Memorial Ceremony for the Holy Founder Nun Dai Ai Dao and Venerable Nuns who have contributed to Vietnamese Buddhism

On April 23, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha's Nuns' Association coordinated with the Binh Phuoc Province Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha's Nuns' Association to organize the opening ceremony of the Grand Memorial Ceremony for the Holy Founder Ni Dai Ai Dao and Venerable Nuns with meritorious contributions to Vietnamese Buddhism in 2023 at Quang Minh Pagoda (Dong Xoai City, Binh Phuoc Province).

Attending the opening ceremony were the Supreme Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Most Venerable Thich Tri Quang; Most Venerable Thich Thien Nhon - Chairman of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha; along with representatives of the Venerable Monks, the Committees, Institutes and Office II of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha; leaders of Binh Phuoc province, along with representatives of a number of local and central departments. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Venerable Thich Nu Nhat Khuong - Standing Member of the Executive Council, Head of the Central Nuns' Division, Deputy Head of the Executive Committee; Head of the Nuns' Division of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Binh Phuoc province, said: With the theme "Binh Phuoc Nuns: Dedication and transmission of the Dharma", the Memorial Ceremony of the Holy Founder Ni Dai Ai Dao and the Venerable Nuns who have contributed to Vietnamese Buddhism is an important event of the Buddhist nuns of Binh Phuoc province, expressing gratitude and offering to the Holy Founder Ni Dai Ai Dao and the Venerable Nuns who have contributed to Vietnamese Buddhism. Binh Phuoc province was re-established in 1997, separated from Song Be province. On March 4, 2011, the Buddhist nuns of Binh Phuoc province were established with a very young Buddhist nun team, with extremely difficult facilities and means of transportation, but with the vow to save sentient beings, they did not hesitate to work hard and devote themselves to serving the new land, building old temples in remote areas, ethnic minority areas for studying and practicing. When the Buddhist nuns' branch of Binh Phuoc province was established for the term (2007 - 2012), the Buddhist nuns of the whole province had 49 monasteries, including 105 Buddhist nuns studying and practicing. After 12 years under the leadership of the Venerable Nuns, up to now, the Buddhist nuns of Binh Phuoc province have built over 90 monasteries with over 240 Buddhist nuns studying.

The Buddhist nuns of Binh Phuoc province have actively participated in Buddhist activities as well as charity and social welfare. During the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, the nuns overcame all difficulties, set an example, and directly mobilized Buddhists and people to support the work of epidemic prevention and control... "The image of the nuns wholeheartedly and wholeheartedly sending shipments to quarantine areas to serve the sick, bringing meaningful meals to the forces at quarantine checkpoints, sending bowls of porridge and gifts with all their hearts to patients at medical facilities or places to care for children, the elderly, and those in especially difficult circumstances are beautiful images, contributing to spreading noble gestures to the community. The Buddhist nuns of Binh Phuoc province also play the role of connecting Buddhists to participate in activities to build great solidarity between religions, responding to campaigns to build cultural life in residential areas", said Venerable Thich Nu Nhat Khuong. In addition to the activities and rituals specific to nuns, the Buddhist nuns in Binh Phuoc also participate in propagation and education activities, organizing courses for Buddhists such as: Eight Precepts, Practicing Buddha Recitation, One Day of Peace; opening classes for youth such as organizing Buddhist family activities, classes for ethnic minority youth, summer retreats, etc.
On this occasion, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha awarded Certificates of Merit to 11 groups and 2 individuals, including Venerable Thich Nu Nhat Khuong and Venerable Thich Nu Nhu Hien, who have made many contributions to the activities of the Buddhist Nuns' Division of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Binh Phuoc province.

At the ceremony, the Buddhist Nuns' Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Binh Phuoc province handed over the rotating flag to the Buddhist Nuns' Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Can Tho city to host the memorial ceremony of the Great Ancestor of Great Love and the predecessors of Buddhist nuns who contributed to Vietnamese Buddhism in 2024. Within the framework of the memorial ceremony, the Buddhist Nuns' Committee of Binh Phuoc province organized a discussion with the theme: "Binh Phuoc Nuns: Commitment and transmission of the Dharma"; candle lighting ceremony; Buddhist space exhibition. The Buddhist Nuns' Committee of the province awarded 100 scholarships to poor students and students of ethnic gifted schools, each scholarship worth 3 million VND; awarded 300 charity gifts to poor households, each gift worth 500,000 VND; awarded 100 scholarships to, and donated 1 charity house worth 90 million VND. The total amount of charity money in the Memorial Ceremony of the Holy Founder Ni Dai Ai Dao and the Venerable Nuns who have contributed to Vietnamese Buddhism, presented by the Buddhist Nuns' Committee of Binh Phuoc province, is worth 540 million VND.
