Vung Tau city leaders visit people hospitalized after eating bread.
According to information from Vung Tau Hospital, this morning, the hospital continued to receive cases with similar symptoms including abdominal pain, dizziness, nausea and diarrhea, suspected of food poisoning and eating bread at the same store.
To date, 224 cases have been treated at Vung Tau Hospital, of which 75 have been sent home. Of these, 45 are children and 3 are in serious condition but their health has stabilized.
Vietsovpetro Medical Center received 67 cases, of which 65 cases were discharged.
Thus, after nearly two days, both facilities in Vung Tau have received 291 patients suspected of food poisoning, with about 150 cases still being treated.
According to previous news, on the morning of January 27, many people were taken to the hospital for examination and treatment with symptoms of stomachache, diarrhea, and vomiting. After investigation, it was found that they all ate bread at the sandwich and sticky rice shop Co Ba Ben Dinh (Ward 7, Vung Tau City).
The suspected dish is a sandwich filled with boiled meat, pork floss, butter, pate, ham, sauce, pickles, onions and cilantro.
Upon receiving the information, the authorities inspected the facility. The owner of the facility was unable to present documents related to business operations, a certificate of food safety eligibility, and documents proving the origin of the food and food ingredients.
Authorities have taken samples of all remaining food at the store and 1 sample of specimen (vomit) taken at the hospital to send to the Ho Chi Minh City Institute of Public Health for testing of microbiological indicators.
Currently, Vung Tau City Police and the Economic Department are tracing the origin at 4 bread production facilities, 1 pork production facility and 1 ham production facility, requesting related facilities to temporarily suspend business.
Vung Tau City leaders directed wards, departments and units to conduct a general review of food service establishments in the area within 20 days regarding business registration, food safety and hygiene, and tax obligations, and at the same time develop a plan for a general food safety inspection.
