The row of frangipani trees at the President Ho Chi Minh Monument Park in front of the City People's Committee headquarters has been replaced with many types of flowers, four-season apricot blossoms... creating a new landscape for the area.
On the morning of March 11, Mr. Vu Van Diep, Director of the Technical Infrastructure Management Center, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, said that the park renovation had just been completed by the unit after more than a month of implementation.
The white frangipani trees here were approved by the city to be uprooted and moved to the National Cultural and Historical Park in Thu Duc City and some other areas. Along the old trees, they are now replaced by four-season apricot trees, interspersed with many types of flowers, pink lotus... creating vibrant colors and making the space in the area more airy than before.
The Ho Chi Minh Monument Park is located at the beginning of Nguyen Hue walking street, adjacent to Le Thanh Ton street in front of the headquarters of the People's Committee and People's Council of the city, in District 1. In particular, the bronze alloy monument, 4.5 m high, facing Bach Dang wharf, is the highlight of the walking square, inaugurated in 2015. The monument is located in the administrative center of the city, where it has the most solemn position, convenient for people from all over the country and international friends to admire.
Ho Chi Minh Monument Park and Nguyen Hue Street are 670 m long and 64 m wide. This street is paved with granite with two fountains and a green tree system. Under the pedestrian square there is an underground system including monitoring and control centers for water music, lighting, etc. Currently, Nguyen Hue Street attracts many people and tourists every day to come and have fun and is also where the city organizes cultural and entertainment events, flower streets, etc.

Along with the park renovation, the Nguyen Hue - Le Loi intersection has also recently been reorganized by the city into a roundabout, after nearly 10 years of demolition to serve the construction of Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien).
This was once a famous place in the city called Bon Ken, built in 1920 - one of the first roundabouts in Saigon. Later, this place was converted into a traffic roundabout, with a fountain in the middle, surrounded by weeping willows, so it was also called the willow roundabout. In 2014, to build the underground station of the metro line, the roundabout here was demolished.
