Cong Phuong and Van Quyet return to the Vietnam national team

On the afternoon of August 29, Coach Troussier announced the list of 31 players of the Vietnam national team to prepare for the international friendly match against Palestine. Two players who are currently abroad but have not played well, Nguyen Van Toan (Seoul E-land) and Nguyen Cong Phuong (Yokohama FC) were both called up. Mr. Troussier affirmed that these are still players with better abilities than some of the regular starters in the V-League.

Meanwhile, midfielder Do Hung Dung and striker Nguyen Van Quyet also returned to the national team after a long absence. The two stars of Hanoi FC showed very good performance in the 2023 season. Fans are waiting to see if Van Quyet can adapt to the team's playing style, because he is still the number 1 domestic striker in Vietnamese football.

The return of names like Nguyen Duc Chien and Duong Thanh Hao also received a lot of expectations. Nguyen Duc Chien participated in the third qualifying round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Asia in February 2022.

Meanwhile, Duong Van Hao is known as one of the pillars of the Vietnam U19 team that won the right to participate in the FIFA U20 World Cup 2017. After that, Duong Van Hao suffered a very serious injury in a match in the 2018 First Division, and was thought to have to retire.

But thanks to his strong will and persistent efforts, Duong Van Hao miraculously returned to top-level football when he entered the field in Viettel's match against HAGL in round 2 of V-League 2020. Since then, Duong Van Hao has shown an amazing revival. Being included in the Vietnamese national team this time is a recognition of the extremely strong will and aspiration of this Warrior.

Coach Philippe Troussier gave opportunities to many new faces such as: defender Hoang Thai Binh (Dong A Thanh Hoa), Nguyen Huu Son, Pham Trung Hieu (Hai Phong), Pham Van Luan (Cong An Ha Noi Club), Vu Quang Nam (Hong Linh Ha Tinh). These are the faces that impressed Coach Philippe Troussier in the matches at V-League 2023 and promise to increase the competitiveness in the Vietnamese national team squad in the coming time.

According to the plan, the Vietnamese team will start training from September 1. On September 11, the team will play an international friendly match with the Palestinian team at Thien Truong Stadium, Nam Dinh. This is also the only match of the Vietnamese team during FIFA Days this month.
