Quang Ngai Trade Union: Focus on developing union members

With the motto "Where there are workers, there are trade unions", the Provincial Federation of Labor (FFL) has focused on directing trade unions at all levels to synchronously deploy solutions to develop union members, establish grassroots trade unions, and contribute to building increasingly strong trade unions.

Promote propaganda and mobilization

Dung Quat Economic Zone and the province's industrial parks currently have more than 53,000 workers and laborers. Vice Chairman of the Dung Quat Economic Zone and the province's industrial parks' Trade Union Nguyen Xuan Quang said that the unit regularly surveys the situation of workers and laborers in the industrial parks. At the same time, it actively propagates and persuades enterprises that are eligible to establish a grassroots trade union to voluntarily establish a trade union.

Son Tinh District Labor Federation established the Hoa Ngoc Lan Independent Kindergarten Trade Union in Tinh Phong commune.

Recently, the Dung Quat Economic Zone and the provincial industrial zones trade union newly established a grassroots trade union (Great Honor International Co., Ltd. trade union, with 90 members); admitted 7,549 union members at the Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Joint Stock Company trade union. Up to now, more than 90% of workers and laborers in Dung Quat Economic Zone and the provincial industrial zones have joined the trade union.

In Son Tinh district, large enterprises are concentrated in Tinh Phong and VSIP Quang Ngai Industrial Parks, which are not under the management of Son Tinh District Labor Federation. As for private family enterprises and individual business households, they are not eligible to establish grassroots unions. Vice Chairman of Son Tinh District Labor Federation Nguyen Ngoc Thanh said that in recent times, the district Labor Federation has strengthened coordination with the district Department of Education and Training and local authorities to promote propaganda and mobilize union members in private independent preschools in the district. Advise facility owners and workers to grasp the legal regulations on trade unions, as well as the benefits when participating in trade unions. Thereby, Son Tinh District Labor Federation has established 4 grassroots unions, developing more than 30 union members from private preschools.

Attract and gather members

In the first quarter of 2024, trade unions at all levels in the province admitted nearly 7,700 new members (ranked 2nd in the country), established 4 new grassroots trade unions, bringing the total number of trade union members in the province to nearly 98,300 people, operating at 1,218 grassroots trade unions.

Chairman of the Provincial Federation of Labor Nguyen Phuc Nhan said that recently, the Provincial Federation of Labor's Steering Committee for Union Member Development has proactively surveyed and grasped the situation of activities and the number of workers of enterprises in the area; developed a plan to propagate and mobilize union members and establish grassroots unions. Organized meetings and exchanged information with employers and enterprises without union organizations to mobilize the establishment of grassroots unions.

At the same time, trade unions at all levels in the province focus on taking care of the material and spiritual life of union members and workers. Many activities have been widely and effectively implemented and highly appreciated by union members and workers such as: Activities during Workers' Month; health care for union members and workers; Trade Union Tet market; "Welfare for union members and workers"; union members' birthdays; "Healthy for work and production" program...

In the coming time, trade unions at all levels in the province will continue to consolidate and improve the quality of grassroots trade union activities, focusing on building a team of trade union officials. Especially with the chairmen of grassroots trade unions in non-state enterprises having intelligence, courage, enthusiasm, responsibility, prestige and good working methods. This is one of the three breakthroughs, aiming to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. Trade unions at all levels will also step up propaganda, mobilization, and persuasion of workers to be aware and voluntarily join the trade union organization. Focus resources, create a breakthrough in developing union members and establishing grassroots trade unions, especially in non-state enterprises.
