On the afternoon of September 24, within the framework of the 2nd Ho Chi Minh City Friendship Dialogue event in 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee held a ceremony to announce the Ho Chi Minh City International Friendship Symbol, marking the close cooperative relationship between Ho Chi Minh City and localities and international partners.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Phan Van Mai, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee; Ms. Nguyen Minh Hang, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and leaders of nearly 40 international localities having cooperative and friendly relations with Ho Chi Minh City. Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Vo Van Hoan, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee emphasized: The International Friendship Symbol is a work of art, a vivid symbol of the spirit of friendship, solidarity and long-term cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and 58 localities around the world. The idea of designing the Symbol comes from the desire for international friends to feel closeness, respect and pride when setting foot in Ho Chi Minh City.

On this occasion, on behalf of the City's leaders, Mr. Vo Van Hoan expressed his gratitude to the international delegates for always accompanying, supporting and developing the close partnership with Ho Chi Minh City. The presence of representatives of local leaders with friendly and cooperative relations with Ho Chi Minh City is a clear demonstration of friendship and mutual trust, a solid foundation for continuing to build success together in the future. "When admiring this International Friendship Symbol, let's together deepen the values of connection that we have been cultivating, towards a bright future, where peace, prosperity and cooperation will last forever", Mr. Vo Van Hoan emphasized.
International guests, leaders of nearly 40 localities establishing friendly and cooperative relations with Ho Chi Minh City, strolled along Bach Dang Wharf.
The International Friendship Symbol is located at Bach Dang Wharf Park, a peaceful space in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, a vivid demonstration of the City's vision in elevating foreign affairs, while sending international friends a message of welcome, openness and aspiration to reach out to the world, together building a peaceful and prosperous future. The prominent part at the top of the Symbol is the Mobius circle - a symbol of infinity, symbolizing continuous, sustainable and endless development. This is the gateway connecting Ho Chi Minh City with the world, between the world and the City. With advanced 3D Mapping technology and water membrane, the Mobius circle is not only a symbol of connection but also a means to display cultural and artistic images, to introduce beauty and spread hospitality to international friends. The base circle of the symbol is engraved with the names of localities that have established friendly and cooperative relations with Ho Chi Minh City.

Within the framework of the 2nd Ho Chi Minh City Friendship Dialogue in 2024, other public diplomacy activities will take place such as paragliding and hot air balloon performances, introducing Vietnamese cuisine, etc.
