Mrs. Hue's Banh Loc attracts diners because of its rich filling, thin crust, and delicious dipping sauce. There are 2 types of cakes for diners to choose from: shrimp filling and mung bean filling.
Mrs. Hue chooses the shrimp from the river or from Tam Giang lagoon, stewed until well-seasoned. The mung bean filling is pureed, giving it a fatty, fragrant taste when eaten, blending with the chewy crust.
The authentic taste of Dao Tan's Banh Loc must be served with coriander, fried onions, pork rinds, chili and the "soul" is diluted fish sauce.
Mrs. Hue prepares all the spices herself, both to preserve the flavor of the traditional cake and to ensure food hygiene.
Each plate of cake costs 15,000 VND.

To add more richness to Dao Tan’s rice cake, many diners also eat it with cinnamon sausage and pork skin sausage. Although it is elaborately prepared, each plate of cake is only sold at a reasonable price of 15,000 VND.
Mr. Hoang Trong Nhat (36 years old, a tourist from Hanoi) couldn't stop praising this famous snack. "Very delicious! The cake is soft, the dipping sauce is just right, blending perfectly with the coriander and pork rinds. Coming to Hue without enjoying this banh loc dish is a mistake," said Mr. Nhat.

Because of its low price, this is almost a "youth memory" of many generations of students in Hue.
Ms. Dinh Thi Tuyet (29 years old, working in Da Nang City) shared that when taking her colleagues to Hue for a trip, the first destination she wanted to introduce was Dao Tan rice cake, because this dish used to be an indispensable part of her student days in Hue.
"When I was still in school, I often stopped by here to eat. When I was away, I really missed this cake, but I couldn't find it anywhere with the authentic Hue flavor. This time I came back, I wanted to introduce another delicious Hue dish to my friends," said Ms. Tuyet.
