CHINA - Having a bachelor's degree and working as a flight attendant but sometimes still having to ask her parents for money to shop, the girl decided to give up the big city to return to her hometown to raise livestock and earned 200,000 yuan (about 693 million VND) after 2 months.
27-year-old Yang Yanxi was born into a rural family in Heilongjiang Province, northeastern China. After graduating from university, she worked as a flight attendant in Shanghai for five years.
Yang Yanxi shared that during the company's difficult period, her monthly salary was only about 2,800 yuan (about 9.7 million VND). "I often asked my parents for money to buy branded handbags, not knowing that they had cut back on spending and even gone into debt to support me," she confided to local media.
According to SCMP , in October 2022, Duong Yen Hi accidentally discovered that her mother had undergone multiple surgeries to remove fatty tumors without telling her. Feeling remorseful, she decided to quit her job and return to her hometown.
“My parents always give me good news and hide the bad news,” she confided. “Now, I want to be close to them and don’t want to live far away from home anymore.”
Try your hand at pig farming
In April 2023, Ms. Duong took over a relative's pig farm and started taking care of the pigs.
She shared her journey on a short video platform, quickly attracting nearly 1.2 million followers. In the videos, she prepared food, fed pigs, cleaned barns, and appeared in beautiful dresses...
Although life in the countryside is not easy, she remains persistent and optimistic. “I work so hard that my back and waist ache every day. After a long day, I always smell bad,” she said on social media.
Thanks to his hard work, Yang earned more than 200,000 yuan in two months from selling pigs and another livestock and managing his social media account.
She also aims to expand the farm, open a specialty store and build a hotel in the future.
“Now I can live close to my parents, and that makes me feel happy and fulfilled,” she said.

The trend of choosing a job is not only based on qualifications.
Yang Yanxi’s story has created a stir on Chinese social media. One netizen commented: “Your filial piety is admirable. A brave and intelligent girl can live well no matter what job she does.”
Not only Duong, many young people in China are also aiming for quality of life and personal interests instead of chasing after traditional concepts of success.
Earlier this year, a master's degree graduate from Tsinghua University, one of China's most prestigious schools, surprised the public when he decided to study cooking.
Or last July, a group of philosophy students in Guangdong province attracted attention when they sold grilled sausages while discussing life philosophies with customers.
