At 1:00 p.m. on February 8 (the 29th of the Lunar New Year), after receiving information about donated lungs from the 108 Military Central Hospital, the Central Lung Hospital urgently activated the lung transplant program and held a consultation to select the patient to receive the organ that same night.
Luck came to the young girl PAT (21 years old, from Bac Kan), who was a student at a university but had to drop out halfway because she unfortunately had terminal lung disease.
When he was selected for a lung transplant, T. had to use long-term oxygen at home and always needed support for daily activities.
The patient has been managed and monitored at the Central Lung Hospital since 2020 and has been waiting for a lung transplant for several months. Hospital doctors regularly examine her during her current recovery process.
The lung transplant that revived the young girl once again affirmed the level and skills of Vietnamese doctors in conquering cutting-edge techniques in the field of organ transplantation.
Currently, PAT patient's health is progressing well, recovering quickly, and practicing walking every day.
The success of the lung transplant is a typical achievement of the Vietnamese medical sector, contributing to bringing great values to the health of patients and people.
