Quang Nam and Da Nang clubs face the risk of… not having a field to play in V-League

Tam Ky stadium is bare at the end of August

Last season, coach Van Sy Son expressed his frustration more than once: "Quang Nam Club had to play 26 away matches" when losing home field advantage, having to borrow Hoa Xuan Stadium to play. The reason was because Tam Ky Stadium was too poor, so VPF "blew the whistle" and did not allow it to host matches in V-League 2023 - 2024.

Not only did they lose their mental advantage when Quang Nam audiences had difficulty going to Da Nang to cheer for their team, but even in terms of expertise, coach Van Sy Son and his team were at a disadvantage in every way.

Despite playing at home, they did not have regular practice, only had one session to get acquainted with Hoa Xuan Stadium before the match, no different from playing away. That was also part of the reason why Quang Nam team's performance declined and they only finished in 11th place, lucky to stay in the league.

Last season, Quang Nam Club (yellow) had to play all 26 away matches.

Preparing for the 2024-2025 season, the stadium story continues to cause headaches for coach Van Sy Son and his team. Although the facilities and infrastructure were handed over to the contractor in early June 2024, up to this point, Tam Ky Stadium is still in disarray.

In addition to the completed pitch and grandstand projects, the main competition-related projects, such as the turf and lighting system, have yet to be completed.

The project investor, the Quang Nam Province Construction Investment Project Management Board, has sent a document requesting the contractor to complete the following items: renovating the football field lighting system; upgrading and renovating the grass field and automatic irrigation system before July 30 so that the team can return to their home field before the new season starts.

However, up to this point, the grass of Tam Ky stadium has just been planted, the grass is just sprouting, it is predicted that it will take at least 3 more months to complete the construction. Meanwhile, the new lighting system has been ordered and is on the way, so the actual lighting system is still in its old state.

Faced with this situation, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province has sent a document requesting Da Nang City to continue lending Hoa Xuan Stadium for the team to compete from the beginning of the new season until the 8th match (against SLNA), on November 15.

The situation may even be much slower because according to the assessment of a member of Quang Nam Club, with the current progress, it is likely that Tan Tam Ky will have to wait longer than this target, possibly until December to be able to put into operation.

Coach Truong Viet Hoang brought Da Nang Club to win the First Division championship.

Unfortunately, according to plan, Hoa Xuan will also start renovating the grass surface and lighting system on November 10, expected to last until February 15, 2025.

Ironically, in their plan, Da Nang Club had to come up with a plan to borrow Tam Ky Stadium when the home team met Hanoi Club in January 2025, and did not even rule out the possibility of welcoming The Cong Viettel Club in early February 2025.

In case the repair progress of Tam Ky stadium continues to be delayed, if by that time the contractor has not yet handed it over, then who knows if the two clubs Quang Nam and Da Nang, after renting each other's stadiums, cannot find a home stadium to play at!
