In late February, a working group of experts from the National Agricultural Extension Center, the Central Highlands Agricultural and Forestry Science and Technology Institute, and Binh Dien Fertilizer Joint Stock Company visited and shared experiences in smart coffee farming models adapting to climate change in the Central Highlands region.
During 4 working days (February 26-29), the delegation visited 6 smart coffee farming models adapting to climate change in the Central Highlands region in the provinces of Kon Tum, Gia Lai and Dak Lak.

At the above 6 models, experts and scientists met and talked with farmers about issues related to sustainable coffee cultivation and adaptation to climate change in the current context.
Farmers also had the opportunity to express their questions and difficulties encountered in the process of coffee cultivation. Experts from the National Agricultural Extension Center, the Central Highlands Agricultural and Forestry Science and Technology Institute and Binh Dien Fertilizer Joint Stock Company answered some questions from farmers such as how to fertilize coffee in the dry season; use fertilizer properly; water properly; manage some important pests in the dry season on coffee trees; how to care for pepper, manage some important pests on pepper trees after harvest, etc.
After visiting the models, the working group held a summary meeting to evaluate the results of the models, and at the same time review the backlog and difficulties encountered in the process of implementing the models, thereby finding appropriate solutions for implementation in the coming time.

It is known that the program "Smart coffee cultivation adapting to climate change" for the period 2023-2025 will be implemented from June 2023 in 5 provinces of the Central Highlands with 15 key districts growing pure coffee and intercropping with durian and pepper.
The program aims to build a complete technical package to help people who grow pure coffee or grow coffee mixed with durian or pepper gain practical and scientific knowledge.

Thereby applying it to the farming process, contributing to improving productivity, quality, increasing income associated with green growth, minimizing negative impacts on the environment, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions that the agricultural sector is proposing.
Previously, on the afternoon of February 25 in Pleiku City, Gia Lai Province, Binh Dien - Mekong Joint Stock Company (a member unit of Binh Dien Fertilizer Joint Stock Company) officially signed a cooperation agreement with Vietnam Coffee Corporation.
The cooperation aims to jointly promote the development of effective and sustainable coffee production, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, contribute to environmental protection, improve the quality and value of Vietnamese coffee beans; improve the lives of workers and promote the development of production and business activities of both parties.
