On the afternoon of February 11, the Tu Mo Rong District Agricultural Service Center coordinated with the People's Committee of Dak Na Commune, Tu Mo Rong District, Kon Tum Province to distribute 3,320 free Ngoc Linh ginseng seedlings to 40 poor, near-poor, and ethnic minority households.
This is a 1-year-old ginseng variety, disease-free, growing and developing well, worth nearly 1 billion VND, from the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction to support production according to the value chain.
Preliminary local statistics show that in the past 5 years, Ngoc Linh ginseng has contributed to eliminating nearly 2,000 poor households, hundreds of households have become rich, with some households earning tens of billions of dong each year.
Currently, Kon Tum province has about 3,000 hectares of Ngoc Linh ginseng; of which, it is mainly grown in Tu Mo Rong district. The value of Ngoc Linh ginseng is considered higher than many other types of ginseng in the world, and the locality is currently building a brand identity to help increase the value of the plant.
