According to Dr. Shilpa Vora, Director of Research and Development at Marico Limited, Mumbai, India, prolonged rainy days increase humidity in the air, making hair prone to tangles and damage, making hair loss worse.
High humidity also causes sebum and dead skin cells to accumulate on the scalp, clogging pores, reducing hair follicle cell activity, and causing more hair loss.
To improve hair loss, expert Shilpa Vora recommends changing your hair care routine.
Wash your hair properly
Do not use water that is too hot or too cold to wash your hair, ideally around 37 degrees Celsius, equivalent to body temperature. If you have oily hair, you should use less conditioner, on the contrary, you need to increase the amount of conditioner when you have dry hair. Only apply conditioner to the ends of your hair, massage gently and then rinse thoroughly.
Apply hair conditioner
Dr. Shilpa Vora recommends applying hair oil 1-2 times a week to enhance hair nutrients, repair damage, and reduce breakage. Choose a hair oil that is suitable for your hair type, apply it to the scalp, and gently massage to increase blood circulation.
Apply the oil from roots to ends, leaving it on for at least 30 minutes to improve blood flow to the hair follicles. According to Dr. Shilpa Vora, the right oil will be non-greasy, help control frizz, and soften hair.
Shilpa suggests using coconut oil for dry, severely damaged hair because it can penetrate up to 10 layers deep into the hair, making it softer and smoother. For oily hair, aloe vera can be used to deeply nourish, improve overall hair health, control frizz, and reduce breakage.
