Inter-parliamentary cooperation is one of the important pillars in the friendly cooperation between Vietnam and the Russian Federation in recent times and has been continuously consolidated and developed well.

During a meeting with Russian President Putin during his visit to Vietnam at the end of June, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said that the Vietnamese National Assembly had signed a cooperation agreement with the Russian Federation Council and the Russian State Duma.

The two sides are discussing to re-sign this agreement this year, adding specific cooperation contents between the Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group and the Russian Federation Council's Cooperation Group with the Vietnamese National Assembly.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations on January 30, 1950, the relationship between Vietnam and the former Soviet Union and Russia has always been stable over the years and has increasingly developed in depth in all fields. Despite changes in political regimes, the two countries have always considered each other as important and leading partners and friends.

2024 marks the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on the Fundamental Principles of Vietnam-Russia Friendship Relations and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the strategic partnership between the two countries.
