Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Pham Gia Tuc said that during the process of construction and development, Nam Dinh province has always received special affection and attention from President Ho Chi Minh. From 1946 to 1963, Nam Dinh province was honored to welcome Uncle Ho to visit 5 times.
During his five visits, he expressed his expectations and his thoughtful instructions and advice to the cadres, party members and people of Nam Dinh province. In particular, May 21, 1963 was the last time he visited and attended the Provincial Party Congress. He advised the cadres, party members and people in the province to be united, the Party committees at all levels needed to pay attention to developing the Party and consolidating Party cells, promoting self-criticism and criticism within the Party so that each Party cell and each Party member clearly understood their leadership role. Nam Dinh needed to strengthen economic recovery and development, and take great care of the people's lives. His intimate and profound instructions were always the guiding compass for the entire Party, army and people of Nam Dinh to promote tradition and be determined to build a rich and civilized homeland.
Up to now, his advice and guidance still hold true, reminding every citizen to always be proud of the cultural and revolutionary traditions of their homeland; and is the driving force for the Party and people to strive to build Nam Dinh into a rich and civilized province.
From an agricultural province with many difficulties, the province's economy has always maintained a fairly high growth rate; socio-economic infrastructure, especially transport infrastructure, has received investment in a synchronous and modern direction; the material and spiritual life of the people has been constantly improved; the appearance of urban and rural areas has changed a lot.
Gross regional domestic product (GRDP) has increased by an average of 7.5% per year in recent years, especially in 2022 when it increased by 9.07%, the highest ever. The economic structure has gradually shifted in a positive direction, increasing the proportion of industry, construction and services; reducing the proportion of agriculture, forestry and fishery.
The scale of the economy has been expanded, in 2022, GRDP (current price) reached nearly 92,000 billion VND; budget revenue from the local economy reached nearly 8,000 billion VND; total social investment capital increased by 16.5% compared to 2021; total export value exceeded 3 billion USD,... Notably, Nam Dinh is one of the first two provinces in the country to complete the task of building new rural areas. Investment promotion and attraction activities have many innovations in a proactive, focused and key direction. The province has resolutely implemented planning, administrative reform, digital transformation, and improved the investment environment; ranked 2nd nationwide in assessing the set of indicators serving people and businesses in performing administrative procedures and public services in the electronic environment.
The socio-cultural sector has also received attention and developed comprehensively, achieving many new achievements. The Education and Training sector has maintained its achievements for 28 consecutive years in the top of the country. Social security has been ensured, the multidimensional poverty rate has decreased to 1.32%; the health insurance coverage rate has reached 92.2%. The work of building the Party and the political system has been carried out regularly and systematically. National defense, political security, and social order and safety have been maintained.
To celebrate the 60th anniversary of Uncle Ho's visit to Nam Dinh (May 21, 1963/May 21, 2023), the province has organized a series of activities to celebrate this special event. Speaking at the ceremony, President Vo Van Thuong expressed that Nam Dinh - a land of thousands of years of culture, a sacred land of talented people, rich in traditions of studiousness, history, culture, patriotism and revolution; the homeland of many talented people, famous generals, literati and outstanding leaders of our Party and State; a place that preserves and maintains many unique traditional cultural values, strong vitality, with customs, beliefs, festivals, craft villages, historical and cultural relics...
Nam Dinh was honored and proud to welcome Uncle Ho to visit five times. Those visits took place at different times, but all showed his love and concern for the people and comrades of Nam Dinh province. From the first visit (January 10, 1946), to the last time Uncle Ho visited Nam Dinh (May 21, 1963), his teachings became a compass, a great source of spiritual strength to encourage the people and army of Nam Dinh to overcome all difficulties, hardships, sacrifices, promote the tradition of patriotism, revolution, solidarity, strive, gain many great achievements, and make important contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation. "Nam Dinh today has become one of the dynamically developing provinces of the Red River Delta. From rural villages to urban streets, the appearance is changing day by day, more beautiful than before, imbued with identity, creating new vitality, new spirit" - the President emphasized.
The President expressed that the 60th anniversary of Uncle Ho's visit to Nam Dinh is an opportunity to remind and review the tradition, and to give more strength to the army and people of the province to strive to fulfill the goals and tasks set out, in accordance with his wishes when he visited Nam Dinh. With that meaning, in the coming time, the President suggested that the Party Committee and people of Nam Dinh province need to fully recognize the role, position, potential, advantages, difficulties, challenges of the province and valuable lessons in socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security of the province in recent years; well implement the study and follow of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, style, and teachings of Uncle Ho during his 5 visits to Nam Dinh...
Along with that, Nam Dinh needs to focus on strongly shifting the economic structure associated with renewing the growth model towards promoting the application of science and technology, associated with innovation and increasing labor productivity; economic development must go hand in hand with sustainable environmental protection. At the same time, Nam Dinh must strengthen national defense and security, maintain political stability and social order and safety, build a national defense posture associated with a solid people's security posture and a solid people's hearts posture, and build a strong local armed force in all aspects.
The President believes that, promoting the glorious tradition of the homeland and the 60th anniversary of Uncle Ho's visit, the Party Committee and people of Nam Dinh province will better implement Uncle Ho's teachings; always unite, unite, join hands and unite to build Nam Dinh to be more civilized and prosperous, together with the whole country to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.
On this occasion, Nam Dinh province honored 60 typical examples in studying and following Uncle Ho; rewarded collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in the writing contest "Uncle Ho with Nam Dinh, Nam Dinh with Uncle Ho".
Previously, the President and other Party, State and provincial leaders offered incense at the General Secretary Truong Chinh Monument; visited the Vietnam Textile Museum; visited the model new rural commune of Xuan Kien (Xuan Truong); and inspected the construction progress of the new Nam Dinh-Lac Quan-Coastal Road project.
