Nam Dinh - a land of thousands of years of culture, a sacred land of outstanding people, rich in traditions of studiousness, history, culture, patriotism and revolution; the homeland of many talented people, famous generals, literati and outstanding leaders of our Party and State. This is also the place to preserve and maintain many unique traditional cultural values, strong vitality, with customs, beliefs, festivals, craft villages, historical and cultural relics...; the place where the glorious Tran Dynasty in the history of the nation started its career, with three victories over the Yuan-Mongol invaders.
Nam Dinh was honored and proud to welcome Uncle Ho to visit 5 times. Taking place at different times, the visits all showed his love and concern for the people and comrades of Nam Dinh province. From the first visit (January 10, 1946) to the last visit of Uncle Ho to Nam Dinh (May 21, 1963), his teachings became a compass, a source of great spiritual strength to encourage the people and army of Nam Dinh to overcome all difficulties, hardships, sacrifices, promote the tradition of patriotism, revolution, solidarity, strive, gain many great achievements, and make important contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Vo Van Thuong emphasized that the 60th anniversary of Uncle Ho's visit to Nam Dinh is an opportunity to remind and review traditions, and to give more strength to help the army and people in the province strive to complete the set goals and tasks, in accordance with his wishes when visiting Nam Dinh.
With that meaning, the President suggested that the Party Committee and people of Nam Dinh province need to fully understand the role, position, potential, advantages, difficulties, challenges of the province and valuable lessons in socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security of the province in recent years; well implement the study and follow of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and style, his teachings through his five visits to Nam Dinh; promote the will of self-reliance, self-reliance and the aspiration to develop the homeland and the country. The Party Committee and people of Nam Dinh need to be more proactive and creative, promote all potentials, strengths, and resources for socio-economic development, strive to realize Uncle Ho's teachings: "Nam Dinh is a province with fertile land, rich resources, and hard-working people, with many possibilities to become a truly rich province".
In addition, Nam Dinh province needs to focus on strongly shifting the economic structure associated with renewing the growth model towards promoting the application of science and technology, associated with innovation and increasing labor productivity; paying more attention to investing in the development of agriculture, farmers and rural areas; continuing to effectively implement the New Rural Development Program associated with urbanization, ensuring substance, efficiency and sustainability, taking rural residents as the main subject, creating a clear change in rural lifestyle and quality of life of each person in rural areas.
The President noted that all levels, sectors and people in the province must pay utmost attention to resource management, environmental protection, climate change response, disease and natural disaster prevention and control, considering this a vital issue for the province's development.
“Resolutely eliminate projects and activities that cause environmental pollution; there must be determination and drastic actions in handling environmental pollution in craft villages, concentrated industrial zones and clusters. Focus on protecting the river and marine environment, especially Xuan Thuy National Park - the core zone of the Red River Delta World Biosphere Reserve, associated with the development of eco-tourism,” the President emphasized.
As a homeland rich in traditions of studiousness, history, culture, patriotism and revolution, the President hopes that Nam Dinh needs to continue to preserve and promote that noble tradition for the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. Focus on building a healthy cultural environment, building a new life, building Nam Dinh people to develop comprehensively; effectively preserve and promote the values of the province's cultural and historical heritage system, associated with the development of historical and spiritual tourism, creating momentum for the province's socio-economic development.
In particular, Nam Dinh needs to continue to improve the quality of education and training, develop high-quality human resources to meet the development requirements of the province. Pay attention to people's health care; take good care of families with meritorious services; solve social security well, create stable jobs, increase income, constantly improve people's material and spiritual life, so that everyone is well-off, happy and peaceful. Along with that, it is necessary to solve complex security issues right from the grassroots, not to let "hot spots" form, eliminate factors that cause social instability from the root, ensure a peaceful life for people and develop the economy and society.
The President suggested that Nam Dinh continue to innovate the Party's leadership methods; strengthen Party building and rectification and the political system in association with promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle; well implement Uncle Ho's teachings on Party building when he visited Nam Dinh. Create substantial changes, ensure that Party organizations and Party members are truly clean and strong, promote the role of Party cells; the government apparatus operates effectively and efficiently, the cadres and civil servants are honest, wholeheartedly serving the people; attach importance to self-criticism and criticism, promote the exemplary role of cadres, Party members and members of socio-political organizations; tighten discipline, strengthen the prevention and fight against corruption and negativity; the collective leadership and leaders are dynamic, creative, dare to think, dare to do for the common good.
Nam Dinh province needs to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the direction and administration of authorities at all levels, strengthen state management in all fields; strongly innovate, create clear changes in the quality and efficiency of mass mobilization work, activities of the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations, to meet the requirements of tasks in the new situation.
“As a province with a large number of religious people, Nam Dinh must “truly care about the lives and religions of its people”, “unite all religions”, “unite from top to bottom, from inside to outside”, for the prosperity of the province and the happiness of the people”, the President emphasized.
President Vo Van Thuong believes that, promoting the glorious tradition of the homeland and the 60th anniversary of Uncle Ho's visit, the Party Committee and people of Nam Dinh province will better implement Uncle Ho's teachings for the province, always unite, join hands and unite to build Nam Dinh to be more civilized and prosperous, together with the whole country to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.
With the theme “Following in His Footsteps”, the Celebration Program was divided into 3 chapters: Nam Dinh remembers Uncle Ho, Nam Dinh follows Uncle Ho’s words, Nam Dinh - Aspiration for the future. Thereby clearly depicting President Ho Chi Minh’s deep affection for Nam Dinh and the deep gratitude of the Party Committee, government and people of Nam Dinh province towards Uncle Ho. On this occasion, Nam Dinh province honored 60 typical examples in studying and following Uncle Ho; rewarded collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in the Writing Contest “Uncle Ho with Nam Dinh, Nam Dinh with Uncle Ho”.
