Petrovietnam Chairman of the Board of Directors Le Manh Hung received the World Bank Director in Vietnam
Also attending the reception were Board Member Nguyen Van Mau, Deputy General Director Le Manh Cuong, and leaders of specialized departments/Group Offices.
At the meeting, Ms. Mariam Sherman, World Bank (WB) Country Director for Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, said that based on the three-decade strong partnership between the WB and Vietnam, the WB will continue to support Vietnam's development and climate goals, including achieving high-income country status by 2045 and achieving net zero emissions by 2050.

Ms. Mariam Sherman also shared that the WB has been investing in Vietnam in many areas including education, health, energy, transportation, water, agriculture, urban development, digitalization and climate adaptation. During its operations in Vietnam, Ms. Mariam Sherman hopes that Petrovietnam, as a leading economic and energy group in the country, will continue to have cooperative relationships and close coordination with the WB to successfully implement the common goals of both parties. Previously, the WB and Petrovietnam had many working sessions and discussions on funding for the Group's renewable energy projects.
On behalf of the Group's leaders, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Petrovietnam Le Manh Hung congratulated Ms. Mariam Sherman on her recent appointment as Director of the World Bank in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos; and expressed her hope that in her new position, Ms. Mariam Sherman will contribute to supporting and assisting Petrovietnam and its member units in implementing investment projects in the coming time.

On this occasion, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Petrovietnam Le Manh Hung also informed the Director of the World Bank in Vietnam about the Group's operations and some strategic development orientations in the coming time. According to the development orientation, Petrovietnam will become the leading national Industry - Energy Group in the country. In addition to traditional fields of operation, Petrovietnam will actively deploy operations to new fields such as investing in clean energy projects such as CCS, CCUS, LNG, hydrogen, green ammonia... as well as renewable energy projects, focusing on implementing offshore wind power projects. These new projects have similarities and are suitable for Petrovietnam's current operations.
In order for Petrovietnam to successfully implement its strategic development goals, the Group's leaders hope that the World Bank will accompany and support Petrovietnam and its member units in preparing capital sources and investing in green energy projects, especially offshore wind power. Petrovietnam Chairman of the Board of Directors Le Manh Hung believes that in the coming time, the cooperative relationship between Petrovietnam and the World Bank will continue to be consolidated, enhanced, and developed, bringing benefits to all parties.
