Because coaching a national team is different from coaching a youth team. In the youth team, the coach's task is more about teaching tactics and techniques, when most of the players have not yet clearly formed their style. In many aspects, they are... blank sheets of paper, so that the coaching staff can paint colorful ideas about football thinking. At the same time, coaching the youth team also requires close attention, perseverance and the ability to encourage the spirit of the "captain". Because unlike adult players who listen little and understand much, young players who are inexperienced need a teacher with enough strength and vision to guide them both in tactics and in the psychology of competition.
For a long time, Vietnamese football has operated with the philosophy of using the same coach at both the national and youth levels. Having the same coach can create a close connection in terms of personnel and playing style for both levels. However, it is not easy for a coach to "both grind rice and carry the baby", that is, effectively manage two groups that have many specific differences.

The task of the Korean coach, in such an immature team, is to boost the players' spirit, create motivation and take advantage of the limited training time to build a playing style suitable for his students' abilities. Mr. Kim cannot do the job of a club-level coach, but can only build a "house" that best suits the existing foundation.

During rare training sessions with U.22 Vietnam last year, coach Kim Sang-sik encouraged his players to "play freely for fun and show all they have". "Knocking children's heads" is never easy. However, this is an interesting test for Mr. Kim to discover new things in his coaching thinking!
