Initially, the two sections of Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway will partially shoulder the load for National Highway 1, National Highway 51 and Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway.
On February 7, the Vietnam Expressway Corporation organized the opening of two sections of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway project. The two sections include the section from the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong intersection to National Highway 1 and the section from the intersection of the road to Phuoc An Port to National Highway 51.

According to the representative of Vietnam Expressway Corporation, the Ben Luc-Long Thanh Expressway project has a total length of 57.8km, passing through three localities: Long An, Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai. The total investment capital is about 30,000 billion VND.
The project started in October 2014 and was expected to be completed and put into use in 2019. However, when construction reached 80% of the volume, it encountered problems with mechanisms and policies, especially capital, so construction stopped and was only restarted in 2023.

Currently, the entire project has reached more than 90% of output. Binh Khanh Bridge is 91% completed and is expected to be put into operation in the third quarter of this year.
Phuoc Khanh Bridge (crossing Long Tau River) has reached 82% completion, but is still waiting for completion of contractor selection procedures to continue implementation. Package A6 (Dong Nai section) has reached more than 90% completion, expected to be completed by April 30.
People have chosen the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway to avoid many traffic jams on existing routes.
The Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway plays a connecting role to Long Thanh airport and Cai Mep - Thi Vai seaport cluster, and the Western provinces. The opening of two sections of the route in advance aims to reduce traffic pressure on existing routes, making it easier for people to travel.
The representative of the highway construction contractor said that recently, the units have made efforts to mobilize machinery and personnel to speed up construction, trying to complete the items as soon as possible, ensuring traffic through the area.
The intersection with National Highway 51 is always crowded with traffic, the number of vehicles exiting from Ben Luc - Long Thanh highway is not much.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Canh, Vice Chairman of the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises, said that the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway will help reduce traffic pressure on National Highway 1 and National Highway 51. This will create a premise for strong economic development. Complete synchronous traffic connections to Long Thanh airport.
"The implementation process encountered many difficulties related to mechanisms, finance, and capital sources, so adjustments had to be made, but so far, all items have been basically completed. The units are trying to deploy quickly and ensure the quality of the remaining items so that the project can soon open the entire route to traffic," said Mr. Canh.

According to the reporter's records, after nearly half a month of operation, the final section of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway (through Dong Nai) has welcomed quite a lot of traffic, although it is not really bustling yet.
