Hanoi Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam announced the launch of the News Campaign, encouraging young people to raise awareness of fake news and create positive content for the community on the morning of October 11.
The press conference to announce the News Campaign was organized by the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information, VnExpress Newspaper with the participation of leaders of the Ministry of Information and Communications , TikTok Vietnam and many content creators on social networking platforms.
Speaking at the event, the Deputy Minister of Information and Communications welcomed the Tin Campaign initiative, with the theme Anti Fake News, with the goal of building a positive cyberspace for more than 80 million Vietnamese people who use the Internet every day.
According to Mr. Lam, many people now consider cyberspace as their second life, creating content that affects the community. At the same time, cross-border social networking platforms are increasingly developing in Vietnam, allowing users to post free content and exploit advertising. This also contributes to the increase in fake news and false information.
"The situation of fake news has many new developments and we cannot just sit and wait but must have faith in people who have positive influence on social networks," said Mr. Lam.

On the management side, they face and deal with many issues in cyberspace every day to protect and help people have a safe and healthy digital ecosystem. "We realize that this should not be done alone and there is no reason for state agencies to do it alone but must mobilize progressive resources and positive energies from content creators," Deputy Minister Lam emphasized.
According to the Ministry's leaders, cross-border network operators are currently switching to a model of charging users to avoid having to watch ads, showing positive signs in the fight against fake news and toxic news. Content creators who want to earn money also need to change their service perspective. In particular, they will promote social responsibility and accompany state agencies to spread good values and policies to people in the most appropriate way.
Mr. Lam hopes that the News Campaign will be a healthy playground, encouraging many people to create positive content that brings common value to the community.
At the event, Director of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information Le Quang Tu Do shared more about the Anti Fake News message and the series of activities of the Tin Campaign.
According to Mr. Do, fake news is a problem that everyone has encountered. In the "sea" of information on social networks, how to distinguish fake news from real news and not suffer the consequences - is the highest goal that the campaign is aiming for.

In addition to creating a healthy playground for digital creators, the Department wants to honor active content creators on social networks. "Content creation is a very new profession in Vietnam but is fragmented. Some people choose to create clean content, while a large number choose to create dirty content to quickly become famous and make money," said Mr. Do, sending a message: content creators should choose to create useful content to be supported by the community and develop their careers in the long term.

"Any platform that enters Vietnam and makes money from Vietnamese people must contribute to the community. The Anti Fake News contest is one of TikTok's activities that demonstrates this commitment," Mr. Tu Do shared about TikTok's participation.
