Fire at scrap collection facility in Hanoi, 3 mothers and children died

On the evening of October 26, speaking with Dan Tri reporter, the leader of Thanh Tri District Police (Hanoi) said that at around 6:30 p.m. the same day, a serious fire broke out at a temporary house, a place for purchasing scrap (in Van Dien village, Tu Hiep commune, Thanh Tri district). The fire killed 3 people and injured one person.

At that time, people heard a loud explosion coming from the temporary house where a couple and their two children lived.

After the explosion, the entire house collapsed. Police then mobilized 3 fire trucks and dozens of officers and soldiers to the scene to put out the fire and organize search and rescue.

"Upon arriving at the scene, the soldiers promptly controlled the fire and successfully rescued the husband, Mr. MVY (born in 1988, from Nam Dinh), who was injured. However, the wife and two small children ran back into the house, causing suffocation and being crushed to death by the collapsed ceiling," said the leader of Thanh Tri District Police.

According to the police, the identities of the deceased victims include: Ms. NTT (born in 1992; wife of Mr. Y.), MTĐ. (born in 2012) and MBA (born in 2018, both children of Mr. Y. and Ms. T..

In addition to causing human casualties, the fire also burned down 20 square meters of the temporary house of the scrap collection facility.

Thanh Tri District Police are clarifying the cause of the incident.
