Find opportunity in difficulty

Born into a poor family, after 9th grade, Quyet had to stop studying. In his memory, the image of the difficult days of 2019 when he made a living in Saigon is still intact. Sometimes he sang on the street, sometimes he waited on tables, sometimes he sewed with others... he traveled everywhere to earn a living and learn a trade. That's why the young man became more mature and more experienced in life.

Quickly falling in love with tailoring, Mr. Quyet opened a clothing store. Not long after starting his business, the Covid-19 pandemic arrived. The challenges of the pandemic did not discourage the young man from Quang, he learned how to sell on e-commerce platforms. His pajamas and ao ba ba products are available on Shopee and Facebook. Kim Loan branded fashion is known to more customers.

Just when he was happy because his products were continuously ordered, Mr. Quyet faced the story of goods not reaching customers due to social distancing. Clothes were returned, money had to be returned, he failed again. But thanks to that, mastering the process of opening a clothing shop, in 2022, Mr. Quyet brought his experience back to his hometown to start over.

Determined to pursue pajamas and ao ba ba, he started to build his own sewing workshop in Tam Dan commune (Phu Ninh district). However, his biggest difficulty at that time was capital to buy raw materials and pay workers. “At that time, I tried to convince fabric owners to support raw materials so that I could produce. Perhaps my sincerity made the fabric owners agree to import raw materials in advance and pay at the end of the year. With such support, I was even more determined to build the Kim Loan fashion brand,” said Quyet.

Mr. Quyet said that the criteria is cut - sew - retail. Every day, the design department will come up with new designs, tailors will cut, sew, create products, not import goods from outside. Products are posted on fanpage, livestream for sale. Thus, customers will see the production process, his reputation to decide to buy. At the same time, he also attaches great importance to customer care, customers can return, products used 2 - 3 times, the store will support 20,000 - 30,000 VND for repair. Thanks to this reputation, Kim Loan fashion products are increasingly popular.

However, when the Kim Loan brand expanded nationwide, he faced counterfeiting, fake shops with the name "Kim Loan fashion" appeared more and more on Facebook, causing Mr. Quyet to encounter many difficulties. In addition, the customer base was middle-aged, not familiar with using e-commerce, the counterfeiters were so sophisticated when counterfeiting phone numbers, stamps, labels, packaging, designs, patterns... so sophisticated that it was difficult to distinguish. Therefore, in a short time, Mr. Quyet's store lost a large number of customers. He even had his fanpage stolen.

Quickly, the owner of Kim Loan Fashion re-established another Facebook channel. Mr. Quyet recalled: “At first, I felt helpless! But if I kept feeling depressed, who would care about me? So I accepted the loss of capital, selling items from 190,000, 150,000, 130,000... down to 100,000 VND to attract customers. Right after informing customers, the number of views on Facebook increased again, more than a million views.”

Along with creating and protecting the new Facebook page, Mr. Quyet created a hotline number. Before the order is delivered to the customer, the staff will reconfirm. All orders for returns and exchanges of information are kept in contact and carefully checked.

From a clothing factory with 7 workers, Mr. Quyet has now opened 5 factories with more than 200 workers, producing 2,000 sets/day. Overcoming the "headwind", Kim Loan Fashion is increasingly standing firm in the garment market.

Humane Management

With 3 young children, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Le (born in 1991, Tam Vinh commune, Phu Ninh) cannot do housework, take care of her children, and work for the company, often working overtime like before. Understanding her situation, Mr. Quyet recruited her to work at Kim Loan Fashion factory, for more than 4 months now.

“After taking my child to school at 7am, I come here to work at 7:30pm. The salary is over 8 million VND/month, which is worth mentioning since around 4pm, Mr. Quyet creates opportunities for mothers like me to pick up our children. On Saturdays and Sundays, we can also work to increase our income. The owner, Mr. Quyet, is very friendly, sociable, always caring, asking questions, and giving enthusiastic instructions,” said Ms. Le.

Also a mother, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngan (born in 1986, Tam Dan commune, Phu Ninh district) expressed: “I used to work as a tailor, but after giving birth, I was busy with children and the company's strict working hours, so I quit and applied to work at Kim Loan Fashion garment factory. The environment is clean and airy, the work here is quite simple, the salary is stable, I have extra income to cover my living expenses and can still take care of my young children.”

Starting from scratch, Mr. Quyet understands the hardships. Therefore, he always creates conditions for mothers and women in the countryside to have stable jobs with an average salary of 8.5 - 9 million VND/month. He also arranges a small playground for children so that at the end of the day or on weekends, mothers can bring their children to play, watch their children, and do their work.

“The current difficulty lies in the fact that I am single-handedly managing a large number of workers. However, I always prioritize human resource management with humanity. I always consider and evaluate market demand to ensure that all workers here have stable jobs and are not unemployed,” Mr. Quyet shared.

In addition to developing his business, Mr. Quyet is also a person with a heart for charity. With the desire to contribute to the development of his hometown, he often supports giving gifts, clothes, necessities, etc. to the locals. The dream of this Phu Ninh guy does not stop at raising the value of his Kim Loan Fashion brand, but also wishes to have more conditions to help local people overcome difficulties as he once tried to escape poverty.
