On January 27, specialist doctor 2 Nguyen Minh Tien, Deputy Director of the City Children's Hospital, said that baby D. was admitted to the hospital with pain in his left heel and a lot of bleeding. Here, the child was given emergency treatment to stop the bleeding, received intravenous fluids, and X-ray images did not detect any broken bones. The patient was transferred for surgery to treat the injury.
Baby D. had a torn Achilles tendon in his left leg. The wound on his 3rd and 4th toes was cleaned and stitched to restore the Achilles tendon.
The team noted that the baby had a partially crushed Achilles tendon and soft tissue damage on the sole of the third and fourth toes. Doctors cleaned the wound, restored the Achilles tendon, and sutured the wound on the third and fourth toes. The baby was given a tetanus shot and pain medication.
Previously, at the end of December 2023, Ho Chi Minh City Orthopedic Trauma Hospital received a girl named LPO (5 years old, living in Tra Vinh) whose arm was severed due to a motorbike accident.
According to the medical history, O. was riding on the back of a motorbike being driven by her mother on a road in Tra Vinh. At that time, she was wearing a jacket, but she had one sleeve tucked into her arm and the other sleeve was hanging down. During the movement, the hanging sleeve got caught in the motorbike and jerked her to fall, at the same time tearing off her right arm.
Through the above cases, Dr. Tien reminds parents to carefully instruct children to place their feet in a safe position on the bike, avoiding putting their feet in the spokes, causing unfortunate accidents. In addition, parents need to pay attention to their clothing, avoiding the extremely dangerous situation of clothes getting tangled in the spokes.
