Correcting school violence

(QBĐT) - Recently, in the province, there have been a number of incidents of school violence, negative behaviors in ethics and lifestyle of some managers, teachers, and students in the Education and Training sector, causing negative impacts on the educational environment and public discontent in society. On the afternoon of April 14, 2023, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho An Phong gave instructions to immediately rectify this situation.

The education sector needs to promote political ideology, ethics, lifestyle, and style education for managers, teachers, staff, and students, to build a cultural environment and cultural behavior in schools.

Accordingly, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Education and Training, People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to urgently direct relevant departments, offices, units, and principals of educational institutions under their management authority to strengthen solutions to strictly implement the directions of the Government and the Ministry of Education and Training on building school culture in educational institutions.

At the same time, promote the implementation of tasks and solutions on building a school culture of behavior, moral education, and lifestyle among managers, teachers, staff, and students in the education and training sector according to Plan No. 2079/KH-UBND dated December 7, 2018 of the Provincial People's Committee on the implementation of the Project "Building a school culture of behavior for the period 2018-2025" in Quang Binh province and the direction of the Provincial People's Committee in Official Dispatch No. 1781/UBND-NCVX dated September 28, 2022 on strengthening the implementation of the Project "Building a school culture of behavior for the period 2018-2025" according to Decision No. 1299/QD-TTg dated October 3, 2018 of the Prime Minister.

In particular, enhance the responsibility of managers, teachers and staff in the management, prevention, detection and timely containment of school violence, and strictly handle violations; raise the responsibility of leaders; any unit that allows school violence to occur within its management scope must be held responsible to the locality, management agency and superiors.

The Department of Education and Training closely coordinates with relevant authorities to promptly verify and clarify incidents inside and outside schools related to school violence and violations of the law for handling according to regulations.

In addition, it is necessary to promote and diversify forms of propaganda about the purpose, meaning, measures, and responsibilities of schools, families, organizations, unions, and local authorities in building a culture of behavior in schools, about the attitudes, behaviors, language, and standards of learners, teachers, staff, employees, and students in schools.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee noted the need to focus on building the personality of teachers; promoting education on political ideology, ethics, lifestyle, and style for managers, teachers, staff, and students, creating a foundation of awareness and action to build a cultural environment and cultural behavior in schools.
