Tang Long Bridge with a total investment of more than 741 billion VND, once completed, will replace the existing one that has been degraded for many years and often causes congestion at the eastern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City.
Construction began in late 2017, with Tang Long Bridge located on La Xuan Oai Street (Truong Thanh Ward, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City) to replace the old, degraded bridge. Currently, the project's components are accelerating construction.
According to the original plan, this project was completed in 2019, however, when it reached more than 30% of the volume, the project was temporarily suspended due to land issues.
By February 2023, Tang Long Bridge will be restarted and is expected to open to traffic on April 30, 2025.
According to Dan Viet reporters, after the "frozen" period, workers and machinery were mobilized to the maximum to carry out construction and complete the final items of the project such as rolling the ground, asphalt carpeting, drainage ditches and installing the lighting system.
Tang Long Bridge across Trau Trau canal is 231 m long, including 2 branches, each branch is 11 m wide for 2 lanes and sidewalks. The two ends of the bridge are approach roads with a total length of 559 m, along with lighting, trees, and drainage systems.
Currently, people in the area have to travel across a temporary iron bridge, which has been degraded for many years. "Because the old bridge has degraded, people who go across here are worried. Hopefully the new bridge will be put into use soon so that people can travel with peace of mind," said Ms. Thanh Quynh (residing in Thu Duc City).
The project has a total scale of 2.62 hectares with a total investment of 741.1 billion VND. After completion, Tang Long Bridge will replace the existing narrow bridge, which often causes congestion.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, the construction of the new Tang Long Bridge is not only of great significance for freight transport, meeting the travel needs of people in the area, this project also contributes to economic development and urban beautification, while helping to reduce congestion in the eastern area of Ho Chi Minh City.
