Cao Pendant Quang Vinh was officially recognized as a Vietnamese citizen this morning (March 28). At the Hanoi Department of Justice, the player of the Hanoi Police Club received the President's decision on granting him Vietnamese citizenship.
"Today is a special day in my life - the day I officially became a Vietnamese citizen. My heart is filled with happiness and pride. I was born in France but the Vietnamese blood in me always urges me to contribute to my country's football" , Cao Pendant Quang Vinh said.
Cao Quang Vinh officially became a Vietnamese citizen.
The 28-year-old player (formerly known as Jason Quang Vinh Pendant) was born in Sarcelles, France. His mother is Vietnamese. In August 2024, Jason Quang Vinh Pendant joined the Hanoi Police Club and played as a "Viet Kieu" (foreign player of Vietnamese origin).
Since the end of September, the police team has supported Quang Vinh in completing the necessary procedures for the player to become a Vietnamese citizen. His family has kept all the documents proving that he is a Vietnamese-origin player. This is the reason why Quang Vinh's naturalization process is faster than that of players who do not have family or hometown ties to Vietnam.
"This is not only an honor but also a promise and responsibility. I will use all my talent and enthusiasm to contribute to the national flag, so that every goal and every pass shows national pride ," Cao Quang Vinh Pendant shared.
The player born in 1997 did not join the Vietnamese team in the March training session with 2 matches against Cambodia and Laos. At the time coach Kim Sang-sik announced the list of players, Quang Vinh was not registered as a Vietnamese player. From the next training session (expected in June 2025), the Korean coach can call Quang Vinh.
