Warning about dozens of applications containing malicious code on Android platform

Security experts have discovered 38 applications containing malicious code on the Android platform. About 35 million users have installed these applications without knowing it.

If you find that your Android phone is running slower after downloading and installing an application on your device, it is likely that you have mistakenly installed an application containing malicious code that is being distributed through Google's CH Play (Play Store) application store.

Experts from security research firm McAfee recently discovered 38 applications containing a type of malware called HiddenAds.

Worryingly, these 38 applications were all publicly released on CH Play. About 35 million users have installed these applications on their devices without knowing that they contain malicious code, of which the mobile game application Block Box Master Diamond has more than 10 million downloads.

According to security experts, these applications are not intended to blackmail or steal users' personal information. Instead, they will lead victims to click on advertising links or participate in marketing programs to help hackers earn commissions.

However, experts still warn that when infected with this type of malware, the user's smartphone may operate more slowly. Therefore, as soon as you install a new application from CH Play, if you feel that your phone becomes more sluggish, it is very likely that your smartphone has mistakenly installed an application containing the HiddenAds malware.

McAfee security experts said that users in the US, Canada, Brazil and South Korea suffered the most damage from the HiddenAds malware. McAfee has notified Google about the apps containing the malware. Currently, all 38 apps have been removed from CH Play.
