Two rockets hit al Asad air base in western Iraq, two Iraqi security sources said. It is not yet clear who was behind the attack.
VNA reported that on August 5, at least five US soldiers were injured in an attack on a US military base in Iraq.
The incident occurred amid concerns of escalating tensions in the Middle East following the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Iran last week.
Last week, US officials said Washington carried out airstrikes in Iraq for defensive purposes.
The US said it targeted what Washington accused of being rebels preparing to launch drones that posed a threat to US and coalition forces.
On August 4, the White House also said the US will deploy more warships and fighter jets to the Middle East region.
In an interview with CBS's "Face the Nation," White House Deputy National Security Advisor Jonathan Finer said the common goal is to reduce regional tensions and prevent possible attacks.
There are currently about 2,500 US troops stationed in Iraq. Iraq has seen an escalation of retaliatory attacks since the Hamas-Israel conflict broke out last October.
