The first non-cable-stayed bridge across the Hau River
On November 2, Mr. Nguyen Van Du, Director of the An Giang Province Traffic and Agricultural Construction Investment Project Management Board - the investor of the Chau Doc Bridge project, said that the 667-meter-long Chau Doc Bridge is the first non-cable-stayed bridge built by Vietnam across the Hau River. According to the contract, the project will be completed and put into use by the end of 2024, contributing to the opening of National Highway 1 connecting the southwestern provinces on the border corridor. Up to this point, the project has achieved 80% progress, exceeding the set plan by 30%.

According to Thanh Nien reporters, the working atmosphere of the joint venture, Tan Nam Construction Joint Stock Company and 620 Infrastructure Investment and Development Joint Stock Company, at the Chau Doc bridge construction site was very urgent. Machinery and equipment were operating busily.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai (57 years old, residing in Chau Phong commune, Tan Chau town, An Giang), a worker building Chau Doc bridge since the groundbreaking day (March 28, 2022), said: "The workers and construction engineers encouraged each other to make efforts to speed up the progress. Every day, seeing my "brainchild" gradually appear, I am very excited. In the near future, people on the banks of our Tan Chau town going to Chau Doc city will no longer have to rely on ferries."

An engineer working on Chau Doc Bridge shared: "According to the original plan, we would have finished casting a 12-meter-long bridge segment every 8 days, but our team worked hard to complete one bridge segment in 6 days, shortening the construction time. We worked day and night, working through holidays to make the project ahead of schedule."
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai (57 years old, residing in Chau Phong commune, Tan Chau town, An Giang) joined as a construction worker of Chau Doc bridge from the day of construction.
December 2023 Chau Doc bridge closed
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Du, Chau Doc bridge is built with permanent reinforced concrete, including 13 spans, 667 m long. Of which, the main bridge length is 260 m, the length of the approach bridge on Tan Chau bank is more than 213 m and the length of the approach bridge on Chau Doc bank is more than 193 m. The width of the bridge is 75 m and the vertical width is 11 m. Currently, all construction items are being urgently constructed.
Workers are urgently constructing the connection of the Chau Doc bridge span on the Chau Doc city side to the middle span of the bridge.
"The Chau Doc bridge and approach road project is 30% ahead of schedule. The bridge has completed the abutment structure and 9/10 approach spans on both banks; the main span of the bridge has a balanced cantilever structure and will be closed in December 2023 and the approach road has been constructed to the gravel layer. According to the contract schedule, the project will ensure completion and put into use in December 2024," said Mr. Du.
The Chau Doc bridge pier on the Tan Chau town side is being urgently accelerated by the contractor.

The Chau Doc bridge project is part of the project to build an inter-regional connecting route from Tan Chau Town to Chau Doc City, with a length of 20.96 km and a total investment of VND 2,131 billion. Of which, the construction value of the road is VND 897 billion; the Chau Doc bridge and the approach road are VND 534 billion. When completed, the project will contribute to the opening of National Highway 1, connecting the Long An - Dong Thap - An Giang - Kien Giang border corridor and completing the inter-regional transport system.
