Cua Nhuong fishing port construction project in Cam Nhuong commune, Cam Xuyen district (Ha Tinh). The project is invested by the Ha Tinh Agricultural and Rural Development Project Management Board with a total investment of 280 billion VND and an area of about 5 hectares. |
This is one of the projects to build and upgrade fishing logistics service facilities and the project to restore and regenerate aquatic ecosystems and aquatic resources in 4 central provinces, using compensation money from Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Corporation. |
Construction started in early 2024, after 1 year of construction, the project items have basically been completed. Currently, the investor is asking the contractor to complete the dredging of the channel to hand over and put the project into use. |
According to the design, when completed, Cua Nhuong fishing port will meet the scale of a level II fishing port with 400CV capacity ships docking, the capacity to do so is 100 ships/day, the amount of aquatic products passing through the port is about 16,000 tons/year. |
The project's traffic works include: Docks for ships from 150CV to 400CV; docks for ships under 150CV; seafood receiving area of 2,400m2; dredging of the port channel and the water area in front of the port; inland waterway signaling system; embankments, sand dams, internal roads in the port. |

Mr. Nguyen Hong Son - technical officer of the Ha Tinh Agricultural and Rural Development Project Management Board said that the project has been basically completed. In the photo is the 2,400m2 seafood receiving and sorting area that has been completed, meeting the largest service requirements for fishing vessels. |
“When put into use, Cua Nhuong fishing port will be the largest and most modern fishing port in the Central region. Currently, the completed items have been inspected and assessed by the departments and branches. The silted channel area is being dredged and will be handed over and put into use soon,” said Mr. Son. In the picture, items such as seafood tanks, water systems, and fire protection systems are fully equipped. |
The administration building has been completed and is awaiting handover and use. |
Security camera system, lighting in seafood receiving areas and internal roads are arranged. |
The sand-blocking dike with a length of 780m was built and the stone core of the dike body was erected with a total volume of 43,000m3. |
The wharf area will need to dredge 225,000 cubic meters of sea sand to create a channel for ships to enter and exit. |
The contractor is speeding up the pumping of sea sand into the dumps to create a channel for ships to dock at the port. Due to the large amount of sand, the dump is full and must be moved to other locations. |
According to local fishermen, it has been very difficult for boats to anchor in the Cua Nhuong area due to sedimentation. When they return from fishing, they have to anchor far away, making it difficult to transport seafood to shore. Especially on stormy days, fishermen are always insecure because there is no safe place to anchor. When completed, the project promises to help local fishermen firmly stick to the sea, facilitate going out to sea, bringing fish ashore to sell to traders, and improve economic development efficiency. |
